Not sure, but the daily Rotten might have a pic of it.

I'd want to see the medical report before I believe the 200 pounds, but the rest of it actually fits with an ectopic pregnancy with a hydatiform mole.

...Edit: Ok, I thought I'd be resourceful and google it myself, but then I clicked a link that took me straight to some freaky pictures and now I'm all weirded out.
Sorry, I think I just linked the first def. I could find because I figured not every one would know what a hydatiform mole was. Here's a simpler def.:
quote:
A hydatiform mole occurs in very rare cases when an egg is fertilized (i.e., the beginning of pregnancy). A hydatiform mole results from over-production of the tissue that would normally develop into the placenta. (The placenta nourishes a fetus during pregnancy).

These tissues instead develop into a mass. The mass is usually made up of placental material that grows uncontrolled. Often, there is no fetus at all.
Basically, it's a pregnancy gone haywire. Fetal tissue like teeth and hair can sometimes be found but without any semblance of a fetus.

Thanks, beskeptigal. Yeah, that sounds pretty horrible. Do the women with this swell up like a normal pregnancy, or are there clues early on that something isn't right? Growing teeth sounds like it would take awhile.

I just can't imagine what a woman who thinks she's pregnant for any protracted period of time would go through when she discovers something like this instead of a baby. God really is a cruel son of a bitch sometimes.

Yeh, I saw it in the popular press and there were some pics. I can't verify the 200# but it was quite large. The woman was fairly young with a slender build, and had become something of a recluse. Due to her condition, she was unable to function very well. In the 'before' surgery picture of her, she looked like she was super pregnant.

The whole thing was pretty ghastly.

Ichthyosaurs are a favorite on mine. A pity so little is known about them.

One thing that is known is that they gave live birth to their air-breathing offspring, much like dolphins.
