I will have to go with this one for the nonce:
"HOLY CRAP! That was one hell of a long post I didn't read it, but I believe you: evolution is a lie" - Jimi
Didn't read it, but knows all about it.
Edited: I can't seem to get over this outrageous statement! It so typically sums up the position of the average creationist. They do no science, no study; they ignore or twist, never factually refute, all evidence presented, yet they are lockjaw certain that their's is the only set of facts.
Why is this? Some of them, true, are just, plain stupid, but certainly not all. Indeed, most are as intelligent as the rest of us.
It makes no sense to me.

Crucible is basically denying that the magnetic field of Earth reverses every (I think) 500,000 years. He clearly does not understand what some like to call, "Science".
Edit: Hmm, maybe I'm not understanding your question. Crucible Guardian has made a few posts in skeptictimes, and that was one of them. I just made a collection of all the posts from the "Creationists Only" folder, just for fun. |
Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Ah, he's a poster. Ok, I get it now. The name "Crucible Guardian" made me think it was some sort of a fundy newpaper or publication or something, but then I couldn't understand how even they could mispell "knowledge." Then seeing your name confused me even further, thinking it was something you were citing to make some point or other.
But yeah, the fact that it's just an ignorant creationist once again demonstrating an utter lack of anything approaching scientific literacy makes a great deal of sense. That's originally the way I read it, then somehow ended up confusing myself on subsequent re-readings.

The giants they were talking about is probably one of the pictures of a "gigant skeleton" hoax that was posted in a few net-papers. I think it's from a PhotoShop contest. A few archeologists digging up a skeleton. If you search the humor section of Skeptic Friends, references to that pic should be there. |

Yeah, except he claims to have seen it on CNN, and that moreover it is only one giant skeleton of a slew that have been discovered:
quote: "when will evolutionists ever give up? I mean, we've found giant skeletons before, and now they found another one...when are they ever going to admit that they are just WRONG!?" - Jimi
See, it's statements like these that make me want to repeatedly dunk their heads underwater until they admit they have no idea what they're talking about. You know, I can chuckle at the crystal healers and psychics, shake my head at the ufologists, slowly back away from the conspiracy theorists--but creationists always make my blood boil. I think it's a combination of things: 1) Blind adherence to a religious text 2) systemic and willful distortion of science, and 3) their push to teach this garbage in classrooms and pollute young minds.
A lot of the other stuff is pretty crazy and fringe. You don't see a push to teach "The Secret Lives on Plants" in a botany class, yet it seems every year some state legislature makes the news for enacting some type of restriction on the teaching of evolution at the behest of creationists.
At least you can see the humor in it, Ricky. And thanks for giving me a smile as well. Nice work on the reformat, BTW. Looks good.
And just for the record, for some reason Verlch doesn't set me off. I think its because he's so crazy and ill-informed that there's no risk of him ever successfully persuading a sane person to adopt his views.

I am remimded of the Cardiff Giant, a hoax that was on display for a long time. Some vacuumheads still believe it.
Don't have a reference handy but will get one later, if asked.

This one gets me right in the funny bone.
I did actually find a reference to ccdi9 which does hint at what it might be.
"ccdi9 (a biomechanic mechanism that totally would prevent gradualistic evolution)" -- tksgurl
Now what it actually is, is unknown. It might be pseudoscientific gobbletygook pulled from Hovind's ass.

I think that we need a new hypothisis. Hovind's ass is obviously so tight that not even light can escape. Thus, he spews great quanities of impacted shit from his other end, when at the podium. And so, in reality, his seminars and speechs are emergency, vocal bowel movements.

Now, now. The reason Hovind's ass is so tight is because he's got his head up there. And light can escape, just rationality can't.

The SkepticTimes is a joke, and the forum is a joke, and the morons that participate on that forum are all jokes. They are dishonest to use the word "skeptic" to describe themselves. If they are going to propose their pretendscience then surely they can at least pretend to be honest. |
