I don't know if the radio show was recorded before or after peptides rebuttal.

These guys do a radio show?!? Oh do link it-- it'd love to hear this (even if it serves to disprove my theory that jimi, kevkev, tksgurl, etc. are all imaginary friends dreamt up by tkster, who is really some home-schooled loser living as an only child in west Texas with über-evangelical parents)!

Oh yee gods. And there's 91 minutes and 29 seconds of it.

Miss Tick sniffed. 'You could say this piece of advice is pricesless', she said. 'Are you listening?'
'Yes' said Tiffany.
'Good now...If you trust in yourself.."
'Yes..?'
'..and believe in your dreams...'
'yes?'
'...and follow your star..' Miss Tick went on.
'Yes?'
'You'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy. Goodbye.'

Editted to add:

"He talks about intellectuals here of whatever, which is a strawman, I'm not an intellectual. Theres a difference between skeptics and intellectuals. Skeptics doubt, intellectuals tend to think their arguments are flawless." - tkster

"I'm a journalist before I'm a skeptic" - tkster

"If your intended audience is a bunch of atheists, then you can really be skeptical. If your audience is fundamentalists, you have to be skeptical with the agnostic point of view." - tkster

Paraphrased: You aren't a skeptic unless you are skeptical of evolution.

"Modern medicine, they just try to use a drug, use chemicals. 'Well we think everything came from chemicals, so we're going to use chemicals' Why don't you look at the body as the body can heal itself" - jd

I wonder when was the last time he took an asprin?

"'We can find it ealier, we can detect it earlier now' How is detecting earlier going to, well if you detect it ealier then there is more of a chance of survival, and you know theres a slight chance, but why aren't we looking for a cure for cancer? We're spending all this money just so that we can detect it earlier and maybe 5 or 10% of people? What the heck? Lets find a cure for cancer." - jd

"Some skeptics doubt doubting" - tkster

Paraphrased: A true skeptic would doubt everything, including the fact that he exists

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Amazing stuff! Seriously-- the whole retrovirus thing is one of the most convincing arguments for common descent!! And I love that admits to net even reading Peptide's post. Alas.

Tonight, when I'm at home with a faster connection, I'm going to have to have a listen. Anyone else have some gems from the radio show?

Oh, but I am skeptical of the Theory of Evolution. But unfortunatly, I've yet to find any better explaination for those biological process' it discribes. Perhaps tkstr, in his wisdom, can drop by and enlighten me, hmmm?

It comes as small suprise that Peptide's well polished and accurate arguments went mostly unread. Nobody wants their nose rubbed in their own fantasies. At least we here got the benefit of it. We all owe Peptide a big, "Thanks, bro, it was a great read!"

Ricky, those quotes... just wow. I'm speechless.

Almost. :)
quote:
"He talks about intellectuals here of whatever, which is a strawman, I'm not an intellectual. Theres a difference between skeptics and intellectuals. Skeptics doubt, intellectuals tend to think their arguments are flawless." - tkster

Who would EVER accuse tkster of being an intellectual? And why on earth would he categorize an intellectual as someone "who thinks their arguments are flawless."

If we go by that definition, then tkster IS an intellectual, since he thinks his own arguments are above reproach. Yes, he's "skeptical" of evolution, but evolution is not a theory to which he subscribes! He would need to be critical of Creationism in order to comply with his own definitions! The mind boggles at his thinking.

Not that we needed a reminder, but these quotes are proof that tkster is a person of poor character and questionable intelligence who has a very skewed opinion of himself. He likes to think himself a free-thinking maverick, a provocative raconteur who adheres to a strict code of personal morality.

In truth, he is but a dishonest pseudo-intellectual, a mere boy deluded by his own idolatry of the shamefully discredited Hovine (his nearly exclusive source of information on these topics). He doesn't understand enough to know that he doesn't understand enough. The fact that he can sweep away whole paragraphs of proof with a lazy "most of that isn't true anyway" should be a clear indication of his lack of intellectual discipline or moral integrity.

What a spineless turd.

By his own reasoning then, tkster (or whoever came up with that gem) belives that 99.9% of bible thumping creationist preachers are fake.

Well, that's settled than. Dr. Dino, ICR and AIG are fakes, since they ask for large donations from the gullible. OTH, no answers in genesis and talkorigins are obviously telling the truth. Why were we having that debate again?
