What the hell. Let the dumbing-down commence.

quote:
Marshall Fritz is president of the Fresno, Calif.-based Alliance for the Separation of School & State.

"When textbook and teacher contradict what mom and dad are teaching at home about human origins, purpose and destiny, it gives children the anti-education of today's typical 'public school,'" Fritz said in a statement.

WTF could "mom and dad" possibly know about human origins unless they'd studied anthropology? Of course, this is just referring to the fact that they don't want school to teach anything that contradicts Genesis.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

While it may be a form of child abuse, I'm thinking about applauding this:
At the 10th-anniversary event, Fritz will announce a new affiliate organization, GetTheKidsOut.org, and introduce its executive director, the Rev. Grady Arnold, a Southern Baptist minister. The mission of GTKO is to encourage evangelical Christian pastors and parents to rescue their children from "officially godless public schools."
Since it's the evangelicals who're largely involved in trying to get the Bible into public school, if GTKO's mission succeeds, then my kid won't have to deal with the evangelical kids beating him up in school because "his daddy is a satanic atheist" or some such nonsense. I mean, I feel for the kids whose parents will be cramming God down their throats, but my own kid is somewhat more important to me.

I teach my children 1+1 = 3, so all children shouldn't learn math.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Actually, if you subscribe to the Catholic notion of the Trinty, 1+1+1=1.

Ah baptists.
Why do they hate gods word so much?

On thing that offends them with gov. schools is that they can't pray in public.

Gods inerrant word, Matt 6:5-6:

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Public schools are threatening to Evangelicals. Evangelicals see themselves as the 'norm' and possibly have a duty to change the system. This is just threatening to get sooooo out of hand.

But their premise is subverted as school children can, in fact, pray in public with no recriminations under the law. They are actually objecting to not being able to have institutionally led prayer.
