The folks in Antioch Il are upset that Bad Ass Coffee wants to open shop in town. The City Council passed a resolution against it:

quote:
"The shop's name is found to be utterly vulgar, to be highly offensive to the ordinary moral sensibilities of this community and to be repugnant to the entire concept of family values and traditional American ideals," the resolution, which passed 5-1, read in part.

Full story.

Sheesh!! Imagine the reaction if this restaurant wanted to open in Antioch!

The foundation of morality is to . . . give up pretending to believe that for which there is no evidence, and repeating unintelligible propositions about things beyond the possibliities of knowledge.

Haha! I'm reminded of a micro brewery in TX that produced Bad Frog beer. The logo was a bullfrog flipping the bird. PA banned it, although it was reputed to be some pretty good beer.

There is a meat company here called Dave's Meats. The words on the logo say “You can't beat our meat.” Then there is Pizza Hut with “had a piece lately?” And of course, there are lots of stores with suggestive names. No big deal around here. No one would even notice Bad Ass Coffee as something to get their knickers in a bind over…

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

Why not question something for a change?

I'm actually much more puzzled over the concept of people lining up for a $4 cup of coffee than offended at the name.
