When I click the "Active Topics", it happens that: 1. There's the indication of the latest post being by someone, but when I click it, I can't see it; 2. There's a new post in the thread, but AT page doesn't show it; 3. The number of replies is right, but the name of last poster isn't (on AT);

#1 and #3 happen when someone edits a post other than the last one, Siberia. Editing also "bumps" the thread up to the top of the category, even if it is weeks old.
I find that Internet Explorer can contribute to #2, by keeping a "stale" copy of the Active Topics page cached. Clicking refresh clears that up. The other way that effect can be seen is if someone finishes a post to the thread between the time you loaded the AT page and the time you clicked on the thread in question.
The third way the second problem can happen is if the time on Active Topics is set wrong. If it says "since time/date," I always change it to "last 6 hours" or "last 12 hours" or whatever it takes for me to know I was on last, because the time/date setting seems to be based on some time after I was actually on last, meaning there's a time gap during which new posts could be "hiding." |

Ohh, gotcha. I was just confused, sometimes. I'll check for edits. Like Ricky said, it doesn't happen too often. I don't know about the cache thing, though, because sometimes, even after it refreshes, it is still wrong... so I guess it might be the second case.
Thanks! |
