CBN (700 Club - Robertson entity) has their link up. I am just waiting for Fallenwell to do a 911 on this. I've done searches on him and the tsunami. No words at all not even condolences.
Not even on the MM website http://www.faithandvalues.us/
It kind of reminds me of Job's friends. They were there to give advice and accuse him but short on aid.
I have a sick feeling that the grass roots relief efforts will be claimed by them.

I am skeptical that money given to Robertson and his ilk will ever reach the areas effected by the tsunami.

Kinda like Bush waiting three days to even issue a statment. Had to see the way the wind was blowing, first.
Ok, that's unkind. Apologies. But Robertson's history makes me paranoid enough even to wonder what percentage will go into 'overhead.'
At this point, I'll assume that Falwell will jump on board, as will others as yet unheard from. I think you may be right -- they will grab all of the credit they can, earned or otherwise.
Ah well. It all will help and from what I'm hearing, the grassroots effort has been terrific.

The Rev. Fred Phelps, infected pile on the bleeding anus of Christianity, checks in: quote: Friday, December 31, 2004 RAW STORY has discovered that the Westboro Baptist Church leaders known for picketing the funeral of Matthew Shepard, the young college student brutally murdered in Wyoming in 1998, have released the following statement regarding the tsunamis which hit Southeast Asia earlier in the week.
The statement, which was posted on their website Wednesday alongside dozens of other archived "press releases," thanks God for the tsunami and for the death of any gay Swedish vacationers who perished at the time.

WHAT THE FUCK????
Edit: Is it really, really not a satire or something else? Or is this "god hates fags" for real? If it's not a sick joke, who ever is in charge should be shot dead! And I don't mean somewhere convenient like between the eyes, but somewhere preferably where it will take many hours of massive pain without passing out too quickly. |

quote: quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (because Sri Lanka, having the largest number of fatalities, probably is full of bodies which need to be buried FAST).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just to clarify, Sumatra appears to have the highest bodycount at the moment, not Sri Lanka.
Sorry about that. I read the it from another source before I had had time to check everything out completely. Regardless, the whole thing is catastrophic for everybody concerned. The devastation on Sri Lanka (formerly, Ceylon) was just awful.

The sick prick really is for real. Every now and then he makes the news, to the disgust of everyone axcept his ministry; mostly comprised of his own family.
Beside Phelps, even Falwell looks, if not good, then at least a little better than the slimey toad I usually call him.

Rubicon95, while I understand what you were trying to point out (and I saw your retraction), suggesting anything about Skeptic News was a rather low blow, as the lead article there is about how the site was more-or-less shut down in July of 2003. |

I'm hoping I can get and hold onto a job long enough to actually make a donation. I have to pass the exams first. This time, the waiting is killing not only me.
I really wish I'd have gotten this sooner, then I'd have something to give. |

There's plenty of time, Ig. Those folks are going to be hurtin' for a while. I have a feeling that the real disaster will begin when cholera, typhus, dysentary and the rest come a'callin' Also, more puddled water will mean more mosquitos with all of the joyous tidings they bring, not excluding dengue and leprosy.
Our benevolent and compassionate government is now putting up 350 mil. Do ya see it, guys? Howling and braying, long and loud, actually can make the bastards do the right thing. We should howl and bray more often. A lot more often!
