quote: Faith must have adequate evidence, else it is mere superstition. -- Alexander Hodge
Wait a second if there is evidence then we are no longer talking about 'faith'. Right?
The only difference between superstition and faith is that the former has a negative connotation and the latter has a positive connotation.

Think about it....

quote: Originally posted by Doomar For a "smart" student who has taken in the belief that there is no spiritual rhelm, nor God, nor Creator, why would he refrain from any behavior he likes? What motivation would prevent him from suicide or killing his classmates? Any moral reasoning without an eternal consequence would be just plain foolishness to that student. Why, I've come from a monkey and men have made up all these rules. Why should I care? If I obey all the rules and live without any fun, I'll die like the rest, so why not drink, do drugs, have sex, and be merry. At least I'll have fun before I die. So without allowing any religious argument or training of morals or simple prayer by those so moved, is it any wonder we have shootings in our schools and other violence, drug use, and sexual promiscuity, where "chewing gum" used to be the worst problem in '63?
It sounds to me like you are saying that people who don't get Christian Moral training will end up full fledged psychopaths. "God" help your surroundings the day you loose your faith in God. |

You fail to think, as usual Doomar.
I totally reject the idea of a god. I think you who believe in it are delusional at best. I find your mythology quite boring in contrast to others, Greek and Norse for example.
By your reasoning I should be some suicidal homicidal maniac.
Why am I not?
Perhaps you should consider the concept of Ethical Egoism, just to name one of the many concepts in the philosophy of ethics.

Same here. Never had prayer in my school, either. Never had drug problems, never had alcohol problems (just for the records, I drink alcohol exactly one time per year - and that's New Year's Eve, champagne) and I'm certainly not a whore.
