I usually post links to new chick tracts but as the latest tract is a complete bore, I'll post this link instead.

A real clip from a UK childrens TV show from the 70's.

Much better than Chick's drivel!

Wow. All i can say is Wow.
Are you sure this is real?

Also, the chick-tract is not completely without merits. It has such little gems as:
quote:

Wife: We drifted away from God and forgot about him.
Man: We replaced Him with our television set

Now nobody ever offered me a television set when i turned atheist. The bastards, holding out on me like that :P

another fine quote:
quote:

JESUS SAW WHAT YOU DID! WHEN YOU DIE...HE'LL JUDGE YOU!

Really, your imaginary sky-daddy is gonna judge me. I'm really shaking :P

Methinks the girl would have been better off with parents teaching her not to trust people who suggest you should take a look in the trunks of their cars rather than with the better-late-than-never help of God.
Heh, i guess all those other victims didn't deserve to be rescued.

Miss Tick sniffed. 'You could say this piece of advice is pricesless', she said. 'Are you listening?'
'Yes' said Tiffany.
'Good now...If you trust in yourself.."
'Yes..?'
'..and believe in your dreams...'
'yes?'
'...and follow your star..' Miss Tick went on.
'Yes?'
'You'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy. Goodbye.'

SEE? That's why I'm hopelessly addicted to this forum.
And if you don't have balls, ask somebody else's.

For those who don't believe the clip, I can verify that the show does indeed exist. I remember watching it when i was a kid. I don't remember that episode though :D Sometimes, when they wanted Zippy to shutup, they would zip his mouth (hence the name).

Good times.

Well, the page linked to in the OP does advertise the Rainbow 30th Anniversary Special Edition, so I was pretty sure the show was completely real.

My wife feels, because there's nothing in it one would be shocked to hear coming from the mouth of a child, that everyone involved agreed to run that script as a gag for the parents who might be watching.

Yawn!

Yet another boring tract. Same old stuff.
Our old friend Jack seems to be in a slump.

I think that senile dementia is replacing his normal, everyday dementia. This one seems to be a potpourri of stuff he'd done previously, but simpler and with virtually no storyline.

So sad, is it not, to witness the decline of one of our great, American humorists. From the literary triumph of Big Daddy, he is reduced to mere preaching.

Some of the recent tracts were quite good though,

"The Potter books open a doorway that will put untold millions of kids into hell"
-- The Nervous witch

"If YOU believe in Evolution instead of Jesus, you'll end up in hell."
-- "Apes, Lies and Ms. Henn", A children's tract.

Ah, that clip reminds me of Eric Idle reading children's books on Monty Python...

Probably written by a psychologist who was reassuring children that masturbation is ok....

Remarkable claims require remarkable proof.

Whats up with Jack?

Nothing new in the latest tract. It's the "successfull person decide to ignore christian warnings, dies and gets screwed by Jesus big time" all over again.

Maybe Jack should try an other religion for a while to get more inspiration.

Notice, by the way, the subtle bigotry Jack uses. The young driver's wife-- Kim Lee, Jesus tells us, is Asian. And of course, for Jack, Asians have to be into crazy religions-- note panel where she says "JJ's not toerant of other religions", and when he tells JJ "my wife believes in reincarnation." Instead of a plain ol' whate bread atheists, Jack's making a point that strange Orientals won't get to heaven either, even with their mystic religions!

And, were Jesus ever to say to me "depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels," I'd happily tell Jesus to go fuck himself and his fucking "father." But tragically, since there is no Jesus, I won't get the chance...
