I wish I were a better writer, so I could more adequately express my gratitude to the Firemen, Policemen, and EMT's. These people are the best America has to offer. They selflessly put the protection of others as their primary task.
In New York, emergency personnel rushed into the wreckage to pull people to safety, it is estimated that half of the 400 Firemen initially sent in were killed. Policemen calmly directed people who were fleeing in terror while EMT's were working to preserve the lives of anybody they could find while buildings were collapsing around them.
I write this to commend these people who kept their heads and thought of those in danger before themselves. I hold the highest respect for them, and I want everybody who reads this to think about the sacrifices they made and, even though it may sound cheesy, I ask you all to thank any Firemen, Policemen, or EMT's you may know for the choice they made.
I am afraid I'm not clever enough to come up with a good signature, eh?

Most definitly,
There is also the possible heroism on the fourth plane. How that man phoned his wife and found out what had been happening. He knew they were going to be crashed into something, so got other passengers togeather and tried to take over the plane. They may have died, but they prevented possibly hundreds of people from being killed in whatever the target was.

I absolutely agree! When they said on Tuesday night that more than 300 fireman and 80 policemen were missing, this instantly brought tears to my eyes. These folks are extraordinarily courageous and deserve our most profound thanks and praise.

I think the comment I heard on the news that best describes these people was "They are the people that run up the fire escape when everybody else is running down".
The station closest to the WTC lost FIVE fire trucks and took the heaviest lost in human life, they're still not sure how many they have lost.
For a town with only a volunteer fire department I can't even imagine this. This would be like losing every emergency worker in the whole damn county, probably two or three times over.
"Goddammit! The world is just filling up with more and more idiots! And the computer is giving them access to the world! They're spreading their stupidity! At least they were contained before--now they're on the loose everywhere!"? |
