Found something interesting. It seems that a lot of religious people don't know all that much about their religion, at least Christians here in the US.
quote:
The sociologist Peter Berger once remarked that if India is the most religious country in the world and Sweden the least, then the United States is a nation of Indians ruled by Swedes. Not anymore.

With a Jesus lover in the Oval Office and a faith-based party in control of both houses of Congress, the United States is undeniably a nation of believers ruled by the same.

Things are different in Europe, and not just in Sweden. The Dutch are four times less likely than Americans to believe in miracles, hell and biblical inerrancy. The euro does not trust in God.

I'd laugh my ass off if it wasn't so pathetic. If these morons can't learn about something that they have unbridled faith in, how can they be expected to learn anything?

I have heard it said that an atheist is more likely to have read a large protion of the Bible, or indeed all of it, than the average believer. I find a certain, sad truth to that.

See, this is one of those moments when this quote is applicable -
"Against stupidity, the gods themselves contend in vain."

Apparently their god's losing the battle as well.

"Why are you afraid of something you're not even sure exists?"
- The Kovenant, Via Negativa

"People who don't like their beliefs being laughed at shouldn't have such funny beliefs."

Bible believers by definition are misinformed.

And in order to believe the typical "God is Love" stuff, you can't know what the Bible really says.

I've had numerous debates with Bible believers where the Biblical text they were unaware of clearly supported my atheist point.

I was looking for that quote! I like it. It certainly applies in this thread.

They sure look like Jesue lovers to me!!! Lol...

What came first the chicken or the egg?

How do plants exist without bugs in the soil, and bugs in the soil without plants producing oxygen?

There are no atheists in foxholes

Underlying the evolutionary theory is not just the classic "stuff" of science — conclusions arrived at through prolonged observation and experimentation. Evolution is first an atheistic, materialistic world view. In other words, the primary reason for its acceptance has little to do with the evidence for or against it. Evolution is accepted because men are atheists by faith and thus interpret the evidence to cor-respond to their naturalistic philosophy.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. II Timothy 4:3,4

II Thess. 2:11 And for this cause God shall
send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

You can not see the 'wind', but you can see its effect!!!!

Evolution was caused by genetic mistakes at each stage?

Radical Evolution has 500 million years to find fossils of fictional drawings of (hard core)missing links, yet they find none.

We have not seen such moral darkness since the dark ages, coencides with
teaching evolution in schools. (Moral darkness)

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places, EPH 6:12.

"Thus, many scientists embracing naturalism find themselves in the seeming dilemma recently articulated by biochemist Franklin Harold: "We should reject, as a matter of principle, the substitution of intelligent design for the dialogue of chance and necessity [i.e., Darwinian evolution]; but we must concede that there are presently no detailed Darwinian accounts of the evolution of any biochemical system, only a variety of wishful speculations."

Yeah, and that's the point. They love Jesus without knowing anything about him or the culture he lived in. Further, they know even less about Bibical history beyond the mythical Garden of Eden or the equally absurd Flood. And not a hell of a lot about those.

Whoever said that love was blind spoke better than he knew...

I can only think (hope) that the pendulum will swing back given time... I mean the 1960s came after the stuffy, religious-driven 1950s. There's a tendency for the children to rebel against the parents' ideals.
