But for some reason you just can't.
Seems the ID people are getting alot of publicity out of the manufactured controversy concerning evolution.

This is a problem for me. The way our media presents things these days, they want to give "balance" and can't be seen as favoring one side of an argument over another...
I can imagine the author of this piece covering Nazi Germany....
"This week 150,000 Jews were gassed/burned alive in Nazi concentration camps. Rabbis in NY protested this atrocity and called for immediate intervention by allied forces to stop the slaughter. <cut to a video of an angry mob of Rabbis protesting>
Germany's dictator commented that 150,000 was 20% below the projected elimination rate for the week. He called for stricter production standards to be enforced by his secret police. <cut to a video clip of Hitler spouting his reasons for slaughtering the Jews>"
And this writer isn't even the worst culprit of the "balanced view" nonsense that is going around.

The artical in TIME was just about the same.
Tried to get a link to it but it requires a subscription.... |

Dude, if you're not reading The Panda's Thumb, you ought to be. Not only do they love to rip into the Discovery Institute's idea of "fair" journalism (they think the TIME article was horribly skewed), but they've been pointing out the hypocrisy of the ID movement's horror at being compared to Nazis in the face of the ID movement's proponents spending years calling evolutionary biologists Nazis. I mean, you couldn't have hit on a more-appropriate example. |

MSNBC seems to be a little behind the times. But, like most of the media, they're trying to cater to the increasing clout of the right side of the lunatic fringe, (not Tom Cochrane and Red Rider's Lunatic Fringe--Jerry and Pat's). Hell, even the Democrats are climbing on the Jesus band wagon.
I can see the future...Biology, Cosmology and Astronomy based on ID, geology on catastrophism, medicine on faith healing and law on the New Covenant all because our corporate lackey media and our feckless politicians are lazy and have no balls!
I tried very hard to restrain my language for the sake of the ladies, gentlemen, children and the superstitious. |

Your point is well taken. That's what's wrong with news reporting on TV these days. The real news in the real world is not "fair" and never "balanced." Any reporter who says he's "balanced" is a phony. News should be as "accurate" and "factual" as possible, no matter who it informs -- or offends. |

Agreed. 'Accurate and factual' beats that 'fair and balanced' crap all day long.
But it's hard to find either in the corporation-controlled news outlets today. The best we get now is 'spin and suck-up' along with a side-order of apalling ignorance.

I'm not a regular reader of Panda's Thumb....
Think I'm gonna have to start reading them more often.
