Well that is true, but they sometimes leave clues in the parts that do fossilize (IOW the cranium), so v's claim is false.

Well I did say, "not often", so I wouldn't have to discuss the few exceptions. The point was the record isn't complete for obvious reasons rather than offering evidence of the negative.
