I dunno...
just complaining, or slightly anti-semitic? Read the rest of what he says and tell me, I don't know. I do know that complaining by xians about that stuff has probably led to anti-semitism, for example, Martin Luther's book "On the Jews and Their Lies".
Ironically enough, Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis still heaps praise upon Luther, while he and his group blame evolution as the cause of anti-semitism, even though no "evolutionist" has ever gone anywhere near as far as Luther in attacking the jews.
What sodding hypocrosy!

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Luther was a raging anti-semite, but he came into it gradually. quote: Martin Luther and Judaism Luther initially preached tolerance towards the Jewish people, convinced that the reason they had never converted to Christianity was that they were discriminated against. However, after his overtures to Jews failed to convince Jewish people to adopt Christianity, he began preaching that the Jews were inherently evil, and that they should be destroyed. Luther called the Jewish people "venomous beasts, vipers, disgusting scum, canders, devils incarnate. Their private houses must be destroyed and devastated, they could be lodged in stables. Let the magistrates burn their synagogues and let whatever escapes be covered with sand and mud. Let them force to work, and if this avails nothing, we will be compelled to expel them like dogs in order not to expose ourselves to incurring divine wrath and eternal damnation from the Jews and their lies." (Source: Martin Luther, Tischreden (Table Talk) ) In recent years the Lutheran Church has apologized for, and officially renounced, Luther's antisemitism, which they conceded was one of the reasons that the Holocaust was possible in a largely Lutheran nation. In 1994, the Church Council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America publicly rejected the parts of Luther's writings that advocated government action against practitioners of Judaism.
Christian persecutions of jews has a rich history going back to virtually the beginning of the cult. quote: Christians began to show philosophical differences with Judaism at the early outset of Christianity. Debates among Paul, other Jewish Christians (e.g. Nazarenes and Ebionites), and other Jews revolved around a unique feature of Judaism: it claimed to worship a universal God through a particular religion. In other words, Judaism claims that its God is the God of all, but does not require non-Jews to follow Jewish law in order to worship that God. Since Jesus was Jewish, the question facing early Christians was whether gentiles had to follow Jewish law in order to follow Jesus.
Paul argued not only that gentiles did not have to follow Jewish law; he argued that Jews ought no longer to follow Jewish law. The establishment of Paul's views led to a break between Christianity and Judaism:
The Roman Empire viewed Christianity as intolerant, and as long as Christians were marginal within the empire they were persecuted; however, as Jewish pluralism conformed to Roman pluralism, the Empire protected Judaism. Once Christianity was established as the official religion of the Empire, however, Christian persecution of Judaism increased.
Thus, Luther, et al, could be quite comfortable in condemning them, as the jew-bashers remain today.
I note that Ham finished up his screed in the usual, sacred way: panhandling. quote: Can I humbly ask you to commit to continue (or begin) supporting AiG, financially and prayerfully, as we strive to help “rebuild the foundation” of God's Word in the culture … and at this critical time?
Odd is it not, that all times are 'critical' with these people?

I've always found it humorous that these Xian cults of personality disguise their begging for ca$h by including in their pleas the word "prayerfully."
I find it particularly telling that Ham and that whore Han Hanegraaff aren't satisfied with just a prayerful offering-- to be worthwhile, it needs to be financial, too.
Shouldn't prayers to god for support be enough?!? I guess not... |

I can't find the name of the guy but some Christian (leader of something) was interviewed on Air America yesterday. When asked, didn't he care about the deaths of Iraqi children during this war, he replied, "No" and something to the effect the Iraqis were something less than Americans and their deaths didn't matter. My son who normally doesn't say much about my radio programs said he couldn't believe the guy had actually said that.
If I find out who the guy was and what his position was I'll post it. |

Not sure I believe that. He was raised Catholic and entered the priesthood. Catholic dogma of the day echoed the same sentiments that Luther wrote about in 1543.(A paper called "On the Jews and their Lies") I believe he was indoctorinated into it by the prevailing society and religion of the area. He may have very well moderated it somewhat later in life, but he was still very much a product of his surroundings.
