quote: I don't know what GED is, please educate me, because English isn't my native language.
GED = Graduate Equivlent Degree.
Basicly it is what people who have dropped out of high school try for once they find out it is hard to get a job without one. It has the equivlentsy of a high school deploma, but having one indicates that you dropped out of high school at some time. I think Tim was implying that many of them didn't finish high school, which is a greavous insult from where I am from. |

No, Timgraysr was implying that we think that the protestors around the hospice just learned how to spell GED, which would be an even more grevious insult if it were at all true.
It's just a method through which he can demonize the people who disagree with him. |

It would be good idea to spend that money which was spent on Terry to feed poor children.
There is a big economic cost to saving Terry. Why dont her parents pay her medical bill instead of all of us tax payers. As in America we are supposed to take our own responsibility. Isnt it? Wow what a stupid thought?
Hey folks, we are all paying for her medical bill and why dont the people who wants to save her should pay the bill rather then all of us. By the way we want tax cuts on one side and we want to spend more money on Terry like folks. I hope money goes on trees. No wonder this stupid Bush has created biggest deficit that any country has seen in the history of Universe. Nothing against her but nobody talks about how we should pay for her illness. Should not we spend money on something else? Like poverty etc??
To be completely honest here, we don't pay for her medical treatment. That is being paid for through a medical malpractice judgement as well as funds from Michael Schaivo.
As for her folks paying for care, they pledged to, but under Florida law (61.081) Michael would still be liable for the bill should the Schindlers default. |

The law doesn't say Terri is brain dead, it agrees with several competent and professional doctors that she is in a persistent vegetative state with no hope for recovery.
"several", in this case, equals 20 personal and court appointed doctors who have both examined Terri and looked at her extensive medical record.

The malpractice money is gone, according to Dr. Wolfson. And a Google for "Schiavo Medicaid" turns up all sorts of stuff, including this Washington Post article:Medicaid's share of Schiavo's care "is a big chunk," said Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), who until this year was involved in the case as a state senator. |

I sit corrected. I was aware that a sizable chunk of $700,000 was gone which was for her care alone as well as $300,000 that Michael Schiavo got for loss of consortium. A story is now coming out that the Schindlers wanted a significant portion of that money to reimburse them for care they paid for. They believed that they were due it at the time of judgement. Evidentally, they did not understand what loss of consortium meant.

The political take on Schiavo: quote: 3/28/2005 Republicans Jump the Shark: Here's the thing every good bar brawler knows: when you're opponent is down, you don't retreat to the nearest corner. That's for boxers, in the ring, where allegedly "rules" govern behavior. Fuck that. You're a fuckin' sleaze in a bar, and when you get into that inevitable bare knuckle free-for-all, you better be in it for the blood, or it's gonna be your blood that's seeping into the cement under the faux wood floor. So you never back off until that blood is shed, until the motherfucker is unconscious or dead or running home to lick his wounds like a pussy cat after a fucking.
'Cause if you just walk away when you think you've given some asshole a whoopin', then sure as you're standing there, that son of a bitch is gonna get up off the floor and blow your brains out or shiv you in the ribs. No, no, you need to be willing to take that obliterated wad of fuck and prop him against the bar and kick in his face and chest until he's coughin' blood, gaggin' on his own demise, until an ambulance comes to scrape his sorry ass off the bar floor. And you know what? If who you've beaten down is an asshole bully who got in your face and pinched your girlfriend's ass and threatened to fuck her in front of you because the asshole bully didn't think you'd do anything, then the crowd will cheer on your pummeling of the asshole.
President Bush and the Republicans in Congress are on the floor now, having been the asshole bullies for so, so long. They finally overreached with the Terri Schiavo nightmare, thinking that if they passed the "feed-the-Schiavo" bill, they'd be lauded for their compassion and promotion of the "culture of life," a phrase so useless in describing anything that it's brilliant in its emptiness, much like the President himself. Instead, they're imploding.
I'm inclined to agree. Like it or not, Terri is, as I stated in the original thread, a political tetherball that will be batted about long after she is finally put to rest. That tether could choke the entire Republican party and at least a handful of deserving Democrats.
Disgusting, yes, but as it is said, "What goes around, comes around."

We all know that Bush is a fucking hypocrit, and the majority of the Congress is too. What ever happened with all the tampered election stuff anyway. Are you letting them (repukes) get away with it? |

Of course we're gonna let them get away with it. The Democrats are trembling, bladder-dumping terrified of DeLay, Frist, Rove and the Bushs, Cheney and the rest. They're the biggest bunch of pussies ever elected and it would warm the tattered and bloody cockles of my cold, black heart to see them all lose their candy ass' in the '06 primaries to candidates with balls. Big, brass balls that clang together when they walk.
Then, maybe we can salvage what's left of the Constitution from the neo-con jerkoffs and their sanctimonious and corporate masters, and once again be respected rather than loathed in the world community.
All it would take is balls.

There's a feeding frenzy going on, and conservatives seem to be indiscriminate in whom they are biting. CNN just reported on a conservative blogger who refused to pass judgement on any of the people involved in the Schiavo case, and was labeled a Nazi for his intent to not pick a side. I don't think it could have been worse had he expressed actual pro-Michael sentiments. Un-freakin'-believable. |

Yes, it becomes more interesting all the time -- they are beginning to eat their own. I will send them a bottle of ketchup, postage paid.
Because really, all they have is bile and ignorance. They never question, never doubt that they and only they can be correct. The blogger that didn't take sides, as far as they are concerned, is an apostate and will be treated as such. None of the faithful of any faith, religious or secular, can tolorate an apostate. Witness the flack Senator Jeffords of VT recieves.
And thus, we see the burden and the strength of democracy. Even rabid idiots have rights and may speak out. And that's as it should be.
