Here's a brief description of the only octopus in the world that could be considered dangerous: Hapalochlaena maculosa, the tiny blue-ringed. But like all venomous animals, it is only a hazard when it feels messed with. It is one of those animals that I will never get to observe, and I consider that a great loss.
I have also been following the giant squid research, when ever something other than nonsense is written on them. Current thought is that these too, have a quite short lifespan, and one wonders how they get so huge so quickly. And as squid of all sizes are ferocious predators, not hesitating to resort to canniblism, one also wonders about population and distribution.
I think that one of the world's most charming creatures is the cuttlefish.

Mimic octopus This is the coolest creature Ive ever seen, they had a special on tv about it, but its only been filmed a few times. This thing can change any color or pattern you want almost instantly as well as improvise numerous body shapes to imitate the local fuana textures and movement.Pics and vids of mimicry |

Some years ago now, walking along a rock shelf north of Sydney I spotted one of these in a shallow rock pool. It was quite small but the blue rings were very prominant and the creature was quite beautiful. I was aware of its potential danger so did not disturb it. A very cool creature. |
