Our genetics seem result in a tendency towards certain types of behaviour. I expect that there are genes that increase the tendency for people to be heterosexual or homosexual and so on. Others may decrease those tendencies.
So do people CHOOSE to be gay, or is it predetermined? Genetically speaking, it is likely to differ for every individual. The sum of the various tendencies, plus a dash of environment and so on.
But socially speaking, who cares?
If someone tells me he or she is gay, that's good enough for me.
