You know it's bad when Russians are accusing us of stealing their lakes.
quote: A Russian village was left baffled Thursday after its lake disappeared overnight.
Officials in Nizhegorodskaya region, on the Volga river east of Moscow, said water in the lake might have been sucked down into an underground water-course or cave system, but some villagers had more sinister explanations.
"I am thinking, well, America has finally got to us," said one old woman, as she sat on the ground outside her house.

That's funny. When I walked out this morning, there was a giant freaking lake outside my door! I need to quit drinking... |

In 1988 I was a senior in HS. Some of my friends and I organized a trip over to Moscow as a school trip. We met some kids our age, hung out, talked about stuff.
I tell no lies when I say this. They were convinced, to a person, that HIV/AIDS was a bioweapon created by the US and unleashed on the USSR.

Propaganda is a powerful tool, I mean we all know that AIDS is from godless commies sleeping with monkies.
Reminds me of this story... http://members.tripod.com/~earthdude1/texaco/texaco.html |

A spokesman for an institute for international political studies in Sweden voiced concern about Russia becoming less democratic. For the last decade Sweden has lowered it's military defence since the threat of invasion has lessened. As the Soviet Union broke up and got more democratic the threat from the east lessened, but now this guy thinks we should raise the level of alertness.
And here comes the irony that knocked me off my chair: He said "Democratic countries doesn't start wars of aggression".

Democratic countries usually don't. But who said the USA was a democracy? |
