Just found this today while cruising the net and working on some lab reports.... pretty good general reference.

Not very impressive, many catagories but little actual information. Some sections have 0 topics in them, and the Abiogenisis information is woefully incomplete. really you would do better with the wikipedia probably.

And whats this book ad, everything about it is quite suspect, including these quotes

Today's Science Has Lost Its Way

This universe is our home, and it is our birthright to understand
it and our place within it, but our science has completely failed
us in this quest, leading us into an abyss of unending
mysteries and unsolvable puzzles.

"A stunning new theory!" … "This is an incredible book
which may one day relegate Standard Theory, General
Relativity and Special Relativity to the realms of ancient
myth & magic." -- Nick Spann, UK

--
A totally new concept, the Geometric Orbit Equation, is
presented and shown to be the true description of orbits
that has been overlooked for centuries, showing how
Newton disguised it in terms of his "gravitational force",
giving undue credibility to his theory of gravity.

Edit: God this is laughable, this non-scientist has it all figured out for sure... http://www.thefinaltheory.com/pages/2/index.htm, I would be suspicious of any "Science" site which had this ad on it.

Be fair, BPS. If that ad was one of the "ads by Google," the web site has almost no control over which ads show up. We've had people complain to us here on the SFN about ads for creationist sites showing up on our anti-creationist articles. "Targeted advertising" doesn't always work as one would expect.

I did say "general" reference.

As there is a woefull lack of a good high quality open access biology reference site anywhere on the net....

If you want detailed info you have to buy a textbook.

And, what Dave_W said about ads. If you run a website and you use an ad-service.... more often than not you will have ads on your site that are the opposite of what your site is about.

Open up a free blog, put in a bunch of words like skeptic, critical thinking, science, etc in the description, sign up for google ad-sense, then view your blog site. Most of the ads will be for various religious nonsense or psuedoscientific garbage.

At first glance this site looks pretty good (although biology is nowhere near my field of expertise).
