Well skimming the local newspaper they had this blub off the wire in the nation section about sea lions beaching themselfs, the following line is the explination.

"Scientists believe they're victims of demonic acid poisoningfrom the seasonal red tide algae bloom."

http://www.doh.wa.gov/ehp/sf/Pubs/DomoicAcid.htm
It should say domoic acid, funny how this was missed by every editor, not skeptics I guess.

"...things I have neither seen nor experienced nor heard tell of from anybody else; things, what is more, that do not in fact exist and could not ever exist at all. So my readers must not believe a word I say." -Lucian on his book True History

"...They accept such things on faith alone, without any evidence. So if a fraudulent and cunning person who knows how to take advantage of a situation comes among them, he can make himself rich in a short time." -Lucian critical of early Christians c.166 AD From his book, De Morte Peregrini

Watch out, cause that can react with NaCl and make saltwater!

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Damn, but I'm serously hooked on it -- it's a monkey on my back. You cam maintain if you dilute it with whiskey, but still there should be a 12 Step Program for recovering addicts.

I use it in combination with excercise. It greatly aids endurance.

Isn't this the same, insidious chemical compound that killed all life on earth some four thousand-odd years ago?

Indeed! A deadly chemical it is, not to mention very addicting.

When it is in it's liquid form, just a teaspoon could potentially kill you.

Very bad stuff.

Before you even think of messing with this stuff, be sure to read the Material Safety Data Sheet. Better safe than sorry.

Heh, a word to the wise, eh?

But they should have added that it reacts with soap. Now, soap and water are pretty much harmless by themselves (if handled properly), but when mixed, they create a highly caustic substance that will brutally strip off all of your protective insulation. This is especally dangerous in the winter and it is reccommend that you sew yourself into your wool long-johns at the first chill and not come out until late spring, or, to be on the safe side, summer soltice. During this period, avoid all water not stablizied by coffee or whiskey.
