While I don't care overmuch, some of you guys may find
http://www.alanwake.com/ interesting...it's supposed to be released for "the next generation of PC's and PSP's". Whenever that's supposed to be.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

The next generation of Playstations, I think, are coming out next year. They'll come equipped with the latest Power microprocessor, which is geared (or so I'm told) to generate graphics faster and with little 'effort' and there's a lot of talk about how awesome the graphics generated by PSPs will be with the new Power inside.

Screw graphics.

I want to see more focus on the story line. Most games have a single story line, I want to have the freedom to choose where to go. And improved, original, plots. And how about hidden ways to beat levels? For example, in a first person shooter, you could go around just blasting the crap out of everything. Or you could solve some sort of puzzle which gets you through the level and/or kills all the bad guys. Most games I've player are one or the other, never giving you the option. Hitman 2 is the exception to this.

Another important aspect is AI. Although it has been improving, with Unreal Tournament and Counter-Strike Condition Zero, most games AI are overlooked.

Screw pretty pictures, I want game play.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Actually it says: "Alan Wake is coming to next generation consoles and PC"

I can't imagine it coming out on the PSP if it looks as good as they claim. And all the new consoles are using the Cell processor which is a derivative of the Power ... 470 ... I can't remember.
