When you search for poker chips on walmart.com this is what you get:

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=416096&redirect_query=casino+chips

I fail to see the connection.

There is certainly a connection. When you're all into the pot and gambling with the stolen company payrole, and holding a middling to medichor hand like low trips, and are about to get called, you might feel the need to take on a little religion.

Welcome to SFN, ocheewah!

That is weird. I do wonder why in the world these programmers assume you didn't really want to view a list that matched your search in the first place. Maybe the markup on religious books is better than the markup on gambling equipment.

For a moment I thought maybe Wal-Mart was just getting all holy and righteous. I put in two separate searches, one for prostitutes and one for whiskey. Neither brought up a list of bibles and religious material. (Of course neither brought up a list of prostitutes or whiskey, either.)

Well, the category in the link he provided says "books." Searching "casino chips" again returns one title:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=3522093

And "poker chips" returns two. No bibles, though.

Hmmm... any access to Wal-Mart's web site that begins with the URL...

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=416096

... will go to that page of religious texts. You could end that with "&redirect_query=casino+chips" or even "&redirect_query=motor+boats" and it would still go to that same bibles page. Someone could create a search box offsite that appears to be a search of Wal-Mart, but actually just drops into that page as a starting place.

Hey, ocheewah, welcome to SFN. Where did you start your search for the casino chips, right at a Wal-Mart page, or from some other offsite search?

(And by the way, H. Humbert, I'm pretty sure ocheewah is a she not a he.)

So do you think Walmart just needed to find a "default page" of items? Perhaps they thought (wrongly) bible would be the least offensive thing to end up on.

Heaven forbid someone would try and sell a bible. Not like a Hedonist nation full of all kinds of various evils would need something moral to keep us in check!!!

What came first the chicken or the egg?

How do plants exist without bugs in the soil, and bugs in the soil without plants producing oxygen?

There are no atheists in foxholes

Underlying the evolutionary theory is not just the classic "stuff" of science — conclusions arrived at through prolonged observation and experimentation. Evolution is first an atheistic, materialistic world view. In other words, the primary reason for its acceptance has little to do with the evidence for or against it. Evolution is accepted because men are atheists by faith and thus interpret the evidence to cor-respond to their naturalistic philosophy.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. II Timothy 4:3,4

II Thess. 2:11 And for this cause God shall
send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

You can not see the 'wind', but you can see its effect!!!!

Evolution was caused by genetic mistakes at each stage?

Radical Evolution has 500 million years to find fossils of fictional drawings of (hard core)missing links, yet they find none.

We have not seen such moral darkness since the dark ages, coencides with
teaching evolution in schools. (Moral darkness)

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places, EPH 6:12.

"Thus, many scientists embracing naturalism find themselves in the seeming dilemma recently articulated by biochemist Franklin Harold: "We should reject, as a matter of principle, the substitution of intelligent design for the dialogue of chance and necessity [i.e., Darwinian evolution]; but we must concede that there are presently no detailed Darwinian accounts of the evolution of any biochemical system, only a variety of wishful speculations."

I wonder how you'd feel if someone tried to sell you a copy of the Vedas.

Better yet, how about The Origin of Species?

Yeah, but double standards have never been a problem for that type of person (fundamentalist), because the bible is a "good" book and those others are "bad" - you must remeber to talk to babies with baby talk.

Velrch obviously misses the point. (Surprised? Don't be.) The original post wasn't a complaint that a Bible was being hawked, but rather that a list of Bibles came up when somethign else was being searched for. No doubt, Velrch, that if you were searching an on-line vendor for, say, Bibles, or, perhaps, Divorce for Dummies, and got instead a page offering the Jesse Jane video collection, you might be miffed. But then, some dolt might quip "not like an uptight nation of hypocritical, self-righteous moralists need some alternate forms of entertainment to loosen up a bit." Or something.

I am indeed female... And the original post really wasn't a complaint, just a curiousity. I find it amusing at times where searches on the web can lead. The original link was from another site that came up when I googled poker chips and it led to the Walmart site.
