I wonder what the "Christian" president would do if HE got caught. Better yet, what would his Christian Coalition buddies do?

He would do what all Christian leaders do when they get caught in a sex scandal. Repent publically, say they are sorry, be forgiven, move on.

In his book "Under God", Gary Wills talks about why the sex scandal surrounding presidential candidate Gary Hart killed him politically. At first Hart lied about his extramarital affair. But when it was proven, he shifted to arguing that it wasn't their business and "so what?". It even went public that his wife was OK with it. That attitude about it is what really morally offended voters.

Wills writes: "The American people, as they have proved with men as different as Jimmy Swaggart and Richard Nixon, can be almost too ready to forgive sinners. What they find it hard to forgive is sinlessness."

"Too much certainty and clarity could lead to cruel intolerance" -Karen Armstrong
