The search for a greater understanding of differing, cultural beliefs continues. Here is one result produced by the most exacting research ever committed to this esotoric subject:
|
"What luck for rulers that men do not think." -- Adolf Hitler (1889 - 1945)
"If only we could impeach on the basis of criminal stupidity, 90% of the Rethuglicans and half of the Democrats would be thrown out of office." ~~ P.Z. Myres
"The default position of human nature is to punch the other guy in the face and take his stuff." ~~ Dude

At last, some serious minds are attacking this in a rigorous fashion. Reading of the "Highway exits to Satan" made me think of myself when I was a despicable brat. Fascinating. If the map were extended, my biography could be expressed as a diabolical freeway system. |

Indeed. We are all big fans of Landover, here. Well, maybe not all of us, but most.
Welcome to SFN, Bunga!

I didn't know gaming was part of the Ren Fair Subculture. I know gamers that don't go to Ref Fest and I know Ren Fest participants that don't game. |

Ah, but there IS a connection between WICCA and Gaming. My brother is evidence of that, being both WICCA and Gamer: Live, Standard indoor RPG, and computer RPG. |

Edit: How do I know that you are not a closet Wiccan? |

Yea, OK, I see what ya'll mean now, but having been Saved, I thought these guys might have been onto something... the Tour of Evil on an infernal network of roads... adding a time dimension to this impresses me as being the fundie-equivalent of a "life cone"... a visual aid to assess the fiendish trajectories of Unholy lives through the Created world. It might be nominated for a Nobel Prize in Christian Fundamentalist Science should this become a newly-created category (maybe if the political dominance of our ultra-conservative right continues???)

Me, Wiccan? Nah, went through that about 15-16 yo. About 3 years after I started gaming, really don't think there was much connection. Wiccan now? Um, no. Not that Wicca doesn't have it's appealing aspects - I'm just such a non-toucy-feely person that any form of spirituality has no real appeal for me. Blame it on having been raised Catholic. |

I thought you folks were just a bunch of atheists, and it turns out you're Wiccans, Catholics, and the whole bit. I'll bet there are hardened-skeptic Pentacostals, Muslims, and Jehova Witnesses around here, too.
To the point, and sorry if offend devout Wiccan skeptics, I think the way it works is Pagans are really basically atheists, except they have this kind of poetic-like naturalist philosophy-thing going. Wiccans are Pagans, except add-in this metaphysical spell-casting stuff (which I understand doesn't work too well.) I've only met one of each in my life, both were women. I get the impression most Pagans and Wiccans are women.
