To the point, and sorry if offend devout Wiccan skeptics, I think the way it works is Pagans are really basically atheists, except they have this kind of poetic-like naturalist philosophy-thing going. Wiccans are Pagans, except add-in this metaphysical spell-casting stuff (which I understand doesn't work too well.) I've only met one of each in my life, both were women. I get the impression most Pagans and Wiccans are women.
Then you'd be wrong.
The "spell casting" stuff is no more than prayers to the devine for aid in getting something done. (Best achieved through behavioral changes in the supplicant) You have now met your first male Wiccan. According to a survey done by COG (Covenant of the Goddess, US national association of Wiccans), membership is split pretty evenly.
Been Wiccan for 16 years now. It still works for me. |

A pagan (with a lowercase P) is anyone who isn't Christian, Muslim or Jewish. A Pagan (with a capital P) is a member of a particular motorcycle gang.
On the other hand, Neo-Paganism is something else entirely. |

Valiant Dancer is our token theist. Comes in very handy when we have to defend against our obvious bias. We even made him a staff member for that reason. Sure he is nuts but why should we care as long as he behaves himself…
Of course, we don't pay him as much as other staff... |

Wow, do I ever stand corrected. I've been running around a (small-case) pagan all these years, and I was utterly clueless. The only remaining question involves any links to a Rastafarian Skeptic Society. |

I've not been catholic for many years. About mid-way through life in the military, I realized that I really was an atheist. |

I guess they're indeed "neo-pagan" (proper) but seems they loosely use "Pagan." (Thanks, DaveW, I see the error of my ways.)
http://paganwiccan.about.com/ Valiant Dancer, from what I can see, a female Wiccan prefers to be known as a "Witch." If I understand this right, I take it that means you're a "Warlock." Sounds like a rare creature- a "skeptical warlock"(???)
Trish, sorry, but you were Baptized... too late (God's got ya on the books.)
Subject, I don't quite follow, but thank God (Darwin, whoever) she didn't buy the wrong house, if the wrong vehicle purchase can cause problems like that. |

Negative. Witch is not gender specific within Wicca. Male Wiccans are never called Warlock which is supposed to come from a word meaning oath-breaker.
And I don't seem to be that rare of a breed. Sure, we've got the newage (as opposed to New Age) tinkly crystal-crap Neo-Pagans, but there's quite a few old traditional Witches as well. The ones that focus on the core of the religion instead of the optional divination studies. |
