| Time Magazine's cover story today is of Darwin. Of note, he is buried with honors in Westminster Abby and revered by the British. As opposed to being vilified here by half the population. I can't figure out how this country got so overrun with religious followers. |

No idea.
And filthy, this exodus has been underway for a while now. It started with the failure to retain foreign students, moved to the repatriation of many prominent Chinese scientists (China is pumping alot of money into their science programs), and has progressed to what SIngapore is doing. They have a new, and very large and well funded, bioscience research program. They offer western scientists the opportunity to work in an environment not encumbered by the insane religious right, and they offer an equal share of patent rights with scientists. That is unheard of anywhere in the west.
Singapore has attracted minds like the guy who created Dolly the cloned sheep, and some very prominent researchers working on a cure for diabetes. It has been going on for quite a while now. The trend will only continue as long as the US continues to let assholes like the ones you mentioned dictate public policy and politicians continue to suck up to them for votes.
Honestly, why would anyone choose to work in the US surounded by drooling morons who deny evolution and think stem cell research is the equivilent to murder, when a much more scientifically friendly enviroment is available?
The US needs some sweeping changes to the political climate, very soon, or we will lose one of the major foundations of our prosperity.

I hope every one of the sanctimonious, rat-begotten morceaux de merde recieves a spinal cord injury, or, failing that, spends the last years of their worthless, blood-sucking lives as incontenent, slobbering -- 'objects' is not the word I'm looking for, but it'll suffice -- a'la Ronald Reagan. Or both. Yes, both would be apt; a so-well deserved punishment that they could only avoid by their departure from this existance.
It makes one wish that there really was an afterlife that rewarded a soul according to the deeds performed during life.
