Phew...
I just spent two hours cleaning up the Skepticality Forum from the Invasion of the Kilik. I must say that as usual, Skepticality's timing is impeccable. First they hoisted Derek away to hospital in the nick of time to save his life. Now, they hired me as a moderator just in time for me to save their forum from Kilik.
18 spamming threads within one hour, every single one of them the usual image-quote-and-link-dumping fest that we have become to recognise as Kilik-garbage.

Here's the good Dr. after a job well done....

LOL!
Yeah, Randy. That's exactly how I feel. I should have gone to bed more than three hours ago, but got held up... After this workout, I hope I won't get nightmares. |

Whew! Kilik finally managed to push the envelope all the way to banland here on SFN. His latest (last) thread entitled Nature, God, The Universe, The Past, Great Flood was a real doozy, too! He outdid even his own best with this one. It was more than 27 kilobytes of plagiarized text copied and pasted directly from other web sites, plus about 98 images and 120 links! And there was not a single original word, thought, idea, or opinion expressed by Kilik. For those who missed it, trust me on this one, you're glad you did. You missed a lot, and I mean a whole lot of nothing.

Well, Dr. M, (in the spirit of Spartacus) "Those who are about to post salute you." :)
I don't know if there's a solution to these problems, but it occurs to me that you might approach it as we do the nuclear waste disposal issue... here in the States, it's always a matter of "nobody wants it in their back yard". Well, I guess that goes without saying, so second thought, maybe you should consider something along the lines of the nuclear waste disposal solution proposed by (the late satirist) Art Buchwald... we put it on the commodidies market, along with gold, silver, pork bellies, etc. and let people invest in it. When the price bottoms-out, whoever's left "holding the bag" has to deal with it... we ship it to them, and they can put it in their garage, basement, wuddever ("You bought the stuff- you figure out what to do with it.")
Soooo, maybe it could go like this-
Staff consensus of similar sites sharing the problem rate the "problem personalities" with a numerical annoyingness/undesireability composite score. Scores are updated weekly, and agreements determine where they will be BANNED, and from where they will get an email invitation advising that their presence is missed. Competition to avoid them will assure the ratings are kept current and accurate. Everyone shares the burden, and all the loony-tunes are kept smiling.
See? Maybe Free-Market Capitalism ultimately DOES have all of the answers!

GeeMack, my favorite bit in Kilik's last post was the fact that he seems to think that a card from the game "Magic: the Gathering" had some profound meaning. In my book, that tops anyone who's ever treated a fictional book as reality (like those who try to bring Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land to life). |

Brings to mind those folks who worry about the black magic in Harry Potter....in a different way of course. |

awww... I'm sorry I missed that. I used to play Magic when I was a kid.
And there is Black Magic in Harry Potter, just look at how it has enslaved an impressive slice of the population of the world with poorly written fantasy novels and porly acted out films. "She turned me into a newt!" is nothing compared to this, and it shows no sign of getting better. [Edited to eliminate a false link - Dave W.] |

He linked to an image of the Scrying Glass card, without commenting on what anyone is supposed to 'get' from it. |
