Buffet is great, his live shows are... wild seems to tame a description.
quote: I can't seem to find what FL plates are supposed to look like. A Google of FL plate images gives quite the variety.
There are a ton of "specialty" plates in FL. There is some law that lets any interest group who gets some signatures submit one.
And yes, the "choose life" one means just what you think it means.

quote: "That will let all the people in America know that we are a Bible Belt state," Hurst said.
On the positive side, we have here a clear statement of intent which ensures that any argument (once this goes to court) that "God" could mean any ol' god (as has been used with "In God We Trust" and "...one nation under God...") will fail miserably. Hurst has allowed everyone to see that if his bill becomes law, it will fail the Lemon test.
Maybe he'll lie for Jesus on the stand (if it gets that far), and claim that he never said the word "Bible" in connection with his bill. |

OK, I'll take the "God Bless America" on top, I'll go with "Choose Life" on bottom, and the NASCAR emblems/numbers left-and-right. But Alabama's not-so-bad as far as that region goes.
Visiting some of Florida made me wonder whether a KKK membership card would be valid as a state ID, driver's license, "get out of jail" card, or teaching certificate perhaps (but that was "the boonies," and I like much of the rest of the state.)
Some time ago I was almost afraid to drive through Lousiana after reading of, and seeing news reports of how the police targeted vehicles with out-of-state plates as they got "commissions" on valuables confiscated (including vehicles) if contraband were found... it almost sounded "too weird to be true" but a documentary included horror stories of tourists "passing through" who were dragged off to the slammer just for being "suspicious looking" with much grief following. I mean, granted, it's been a while since David Duke was elected out there, but it's still enough to make that movie "Deliverance" pop into my head.
Maybe the "Left Coast" (complete with left-wing freaks and evil atheists alike) isn't so bad, all things considered. |

There is atleast one place in "rural" FL where you can find a bar with the words "NO BLACKS" painted in large letters over the door.
However, as a sign of our progress on racial issues down here, the bar directly across the street has "NO WHITES" painted large above the door.

I've seen him live 3 times (went with friends many moons ago)
Just not a fan...maybe because I am inundated with his music all the time. |

More imporatantly, Dave, does anyone need to be told that Alabama's a Bible Belt state? And if so, is putting the message on a license plate the best way to do that? Why not just take out an ad in a few major newspapers and magazines for a week or something. That would get the word out to those few people who hadn't heard the news... |
