Here's a good one I stumbled across today in my wanders around the net. If your New Year's resolution is to take up a new hobby, this might be a fun way to kill some time. I'm thinking of using this technique to do some cool things in my magic act. It's bound to speed up service for you at fast food and banking establishments, too. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination! quote: How To Become Invisible...
What do you mean?
Well, as you may have guessed by now, the method of invisibility I am about to teach you is based on psychological effects. It's not hypnosis, and it will work on over 99.9% of the people you will encounter on your invisible travels, but it is not 100% foolproof (and I have yet to see proof of any method that is). It also requires a lot of mental effort to sustain the invisibility, so plenty of practise is required. To begin with, you may experience only moments of partial transparency, but with enough training you should be able to go for over an hour in full invisibility. My personal record is over 80 minutes of sustained transparency!
It sounds too good to be true. Let's get started!
Yes, it does. And yes, let's.

Mine, too. That just might be where the author became invisible. And to think we were scoffers.

Being invisible is actually easy. Just make yourself as dull and boring as a Bush State of the Union speech, and you've done it.
Over the years, I've polished the technique to the point that no one notices me at all....

Your posting immediately above this is a good one, ktesibios. I must say I'm rather surprised filthy hasn't chimed in. But then again, who would notice?

I find I usually turn invisible while trying to warn people about something. |

I thought the only scientifically validated invisibilty technique was using the "Romulan Cloaking Device"... seriously, thread reminded me of magician David Copperfield had a special on the tube maybe 5 or 10 years ago where he made the Statue of Liberty "disappear" (made clear it was just a technique exploiting a scientific principle)... I was kind of curious, and wanted to look into it a bit, but never got around to it. I don't know much of anything about the stuff, but would stand to reason the magic business would have grown more technologically-oriented over the last couple of decades. Excluding, of course, stuff like that magician of the pair in Vegas who's tiger or lion suddenly decided to eat him (unfortunately, not much science to minimize risk when it comes to that kind of magic it would seem.) |

I've ceased investigating invisibility techniques as all appear to have the same major flaw... unless I could find one that can make a forklift and all of the gold bars or bullion from Fort Knox or the Federal Reserve I can load on it invisible in addition to my body (or at least a large duffle bag and all of the money and jewells I can pack it with from the vaults of the local banks) being invisible doesn't do me very much good. |

You could always smuggle the bars out one at a time inside, um, one of your orifices, if you get my meaning.

Nah, I'd pass on that... I'm greedy, but not that greedy. Besides, I'm not sure whether the techniques only work for the body, or every foreign object inside it, too... but I suppose you're right, else there'd be those unacceptable and annoying clues to the invisibility "screenees" that something was amiss as the invisibility "screener" walked around, like dental fillings (and surgical appliances in some cases, including me) mysteriously "floating" across the room... |

Off topic.... but the large cat in question didn't "attack" anyone. The magician in question fell down in the presence of the cat, and the cat picked him up (as it would one of its own kittens) and moved him to protect him. (atleast as I recall hearing the story from the non-maimed member of the duo)
Large cats can be tame members of your family, just as a housecat can be. And, if anyone has (or has ever had) a cat, you know well that they are moody, prone to letting you know when you irritate them (small bites and swats, not intended to harm but warn you off) and so on. Same for the larger cats.... just that a warning swat from a adult tiger is of more consequence than from your domestic cat.
Since there is nothing else visible in this thread anyway.... hope you don't mind me ranting off topic a bit.... if there is a topic even.

Since the pair seems to have retired the show(?), I'm sure the casino could use a fill-in act of the "big-cat" genre... perhaps you should consider heading to Vegas and making a buck off your incredible ability to read the minds of Lions and Tigers (joke). Anyway, looked to me like it managed to chew him up pretty good with its tender mercies.

You just haven't mastered the technique, thus, aren't able to penetrate the invisibility screen being deployed... even if the server can't de-cloak and recognize them, and registers "0 posts" (hmmm, didn't check that) there are a bunch of posts here! Wait, it does "see" them... damn, whoever wrote the code for this website really had their act together. |
