Oh yeah, Gates better consign his soul to God 'cause the Reverend Ken Hutcherson's gonna own his ass! quote: Pastor Urges Microsoft Stock Buy - And - Dump By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Published: January 24, 2006 Filed at 10:54 p.m. ET
OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -- A pastor who threatened a national boycott against Microsoft and other major corporations for endorsing a gay rights bill urged supporters Tuesday to buy up the companies' stock and dump it to drive prices down.
Rev. Ken Hutcherson, pastor of Antioch Bible Church in the Seattle suburb of Redmond, said the stock-dumping plan had been part of his strategy all along.
''You got to find out how you affect a company,'' Hutcherson said, conceding that it would be hard to get people to shun products from companies that dominate the marketplace as Microsoft and Boeing do.
He wants supporters to buy one or two shares over the next few months, then sell them May 1.
Yeah, right!
I'm hoping for a followup on this but it probably won't happen. It's so silly that only Fox would want to keep track of it.

I'll mark May 1ste and 2nd as days to buy microsoft stock. Seem like good days to get them cheap and then make a handsome profit out of them. Praise the lord!!! |

Indeed indeed!
And the thought occures: might this be exactly what the good reverend has in mind?

They'll need to buy a lot more than that to have any kind of effect. But, let them waste their money...better they spend it this way than giving it to this meglomaniac and his ilk. |

Sounds like Boeing might be next on the hit list... I'm sure the folks at AirBus were ecstatic upon hearing of the Good Reverend's most holy intentions. |

I was trying to figure out this idiot's logic even if people did buy and dump the stock. So what, other people would buy it cheap and soon the price would go right back up to its market price and all those religies would have just lost their own money.
This has to be a candidate for the Darwin Awards. |

An Ig Noble might be a little more appropriate: quote: "Last, but not least, there are the Ig Nobel awards. These come with little cash, but much cachet, and reward those research projects that 'first make people laugh, and then make them think'" -- Nature
After all, the idiot will most likely survive this, to the detrement of his congregation. O'course, there's the chance that one of those True and Faithful Believers that went bust whilst dabbling in Microsoft's Paper & Money Patch might shoot him.....

For that, he would have to remove his genes from the gene pool. So unless he dies from the action or the action would in some way lead to his infertility (both of which are unlikely IMO) he won't be able to get nominated for it.
But I'm all for it. Defintely. I'm looking forward to buying some cheap Microsoft shares on May 2nd, ditching them again a week or two later, after prices have come back to their original value. Who knows, I might even contribute some of the profits to worthy organisations like the ACLU, JREF and others . |
