You're all going to love this article!

I guess democracy can take a flying leap with this guy, and his supporters!

quote:
He tells a story about a chaplain who challenged a group of senators to reconsider their conception of democracy. "How many constituents do you have?" the chaplain asked. The senators answered: 4 million, 9 million, 12 million. "May I suggest," the chaplain replied, "that you have only one constituent?"

Brownback pauses. That moment, he declares, changed his life. "This" -- being senator, running for president, waving the flag of a Christian nation -- "is about serving one constituent." He raises a hand and points above him.

From the balcony a hallelujah, an amen, a yelp. From Bredesen's great white head, now peering up from the front row, Brownback wins an appreciative nod.

This boy, Bredesen thinks, may be the chosen one.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

Fortunately for my sanity's sake, I don't believe the American public has become Christian fundamentalists. They've just gone along with the anti-gay and abortion issues that are easy to use to keep from considering the real issues like war and corruption. I don't see them voting in a fundie any more than they voted for Pat Robertson when he ran for President. These guys just let their 'faith' in the almighty get a bit carried away. After all, they believe they'll be raptured when Armageddon starts as well.

Perhaps Bush is trying to help Armageddon along?

"Constitution Restoration Act" Bulloney!!!

Legitimate presidential contenders typically run from the middle while keeping their base in line. According to Brownback the middle is his enemy. He might capture a large part of the evangelical crowd, but has no chance with other voters.

This guy Brownback's scary as Hell, but I agree with beskeptigal and moakley. Brownback's been associated with with the far right since day one. One of the essential aspects of Bush's rise to power was the fact that he pretended to be a moderate. He's been a "stealth" politician. Brownback can't play that game. Besides, I think there's a tidal change coming, and people are seeing through Bush in greater and greater numbers. But I've been surprised before.

If such a thing is ever attempted here in the US.... the consequences will be grim.

We don't need a coup. Just as in the 70s, but for completely different reasons, the youth of today will not be sucked into following the corporate controlled media. My son might just be into video games right now, but guess what? He almost never watches TV. He gets his information from the Internet, not from the TV news. Right now, as I see it, the stranglehold on information via the TV whitewashed news is one of the biggest reasons the Republicans have gotten away with as much as they have. But our kids are Net kids. The news is not confined to the latest missing teen girl or murdered wife and baby. And the talk shows are getting so boring while the blogs are growing. I see hope in the change in information access. That's where we are losing now but that's where we will win again tomorrow, information access.
