So what Snake? We like our toys and we tend to get grumpy when we can't have them. You mean we have to act like an adult about everything?
Nah, I'd rather bitch whine and cry. Like mom always said, stick to what you're good at.

Now wait just one darn minute there LISA! I'm the most childish person you'll ever meet, just ask Kil.
The way I read all these messages was that you guys are acting like the masses in todays age...... 'Give me it NOW and I'm not waiting.' That's not being like a kid that's American Culture, IMO.
I, for one, refuse to get caught up in it. Maybe it's my Orential attitude, sorry.

Whatever it is, it's been two days now. And this is my sanity thing while I numb my mind at work. Please, any idea when it will be fixed?

It will require patience. I've been given to understand that the kids are looking for another gerbil even as we speak. I've heard that the tryouts are going well. And, I keep a large Timber Rattlesnake who would love to (ahem) re-locate of the rejects.

All will be well in due course.

I have emailed and called the webhost company. They said it would be fixed. it isn't. Today I tried calling and the support line just rang and rang and rang. What's most annoying is how simple a thing this is to fix. I haven't altered any code at all. btw.

In a few weeks I am going to have some significant funds to work with and will explore the possibility of going with a different hosting company. It would be a snap to set up too. I made a complete SFN backup a few days ago and burned a CD.

Yes, but this is my sanity we are discussing here. I'd kinda like to keep it.

So we'll only lose a small amount of information?

Hmm, maybe Randy should then keep track of his last post re: Bush and the really religious right.

Just so we are talking about the same thing, ah....what is it that needs fixing?
This is not a joke, I really don't know what you are talking about.

What needs fixing is an aspect of ASP that involves the session object. This is the thing that is initialized every time you log onto SFN via your cookie. It's extremely simple but it's not going to get fixed unless someone actually does it.

We won't lose any data. I can still back the database up and get anything since the last update. I figure if i had a new account I could get everything up and running within all of 3 hours. The deals just keep getting better and better but I will make technical support one of the main things I look at. All of these long outages have never needed to happen. Each and every time it was because of some screw up with the hosting company and then an unbelievably long response in getting it fixed.

Now! If I only knew what an ASP is and a session object is we'd really have a clue to what needs fixing.
Oh well, since I don't see any problems OTHER then I

STILL

can't log out guess I won't worry about it.

In the military, as ASP is an ammunition supply point. I have a feeling that @tomic means something else.
The forum still seems to be up, its just damned clumsy to use.

That's good to know Lisa, 'cause I thought it was the thing that bit Cleopatra.
Clumsy? I just don't know what you people are talking about. After the site comes up, you click Active Topics, and go to the folder you want to read or reply to. What's the problem? Is there another way to read the folders that I don't know about?

You're actually still seeing the active topics? I haven't seen that since this all started. I generally go through the main forum page and select each topic and look through the folders. It's just this is getting really obnoxious. Everytime I want to respond to something - I have to re-logon to the site.

In my 'Favorite Places' on AOL, I click SFN, the SFN Home Page comes on, up at the top are the links...Home/Events/Members, and so on. I click Active Topics and wahla, here we are, all the folders before me to choose which one I will look at &/or reply to.
I'm blessed, what can I say!

I'm not on AOL. Which is why the difference. The main forum that shows all the topics for discussion then you select one and get all the sub-folders that you select and can read all the responses and reply if you'd like. The little folder icons are missing. And well, I can only see the most recent subject under the first set of folders with no way to see anything else. And I don't even know which folder I'm looking at until I open it. Then if I respond and want to refresh my screen instead of using the back button - I have to log off and log on again to see the forum, otherwise I get the run time error message.

It's obnoxious.
