"BUSH PREPARED TO NOMINATE 'BIBLICAL LAW'
ACTIVIST J. ROBERT BRAME TO NATIONAL LABOR
RELATIONS BOARD

BRAME HAS TIES TO GROUPS THAT OPPOSE
WOMEN'S RIGHTS, REJECT DEMOCRACY AND
BELIEVE GAYS SHOULD BE EXECUTED

According to media sources, President George W. Bush appears
ready to nominate J. Robert Brame III to serve as a member of
the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), despite Brame's
long-standing leadership of religious-political extremist groups
on the farthest fringes of the Religious Right.

Brame has served as a top official of American Vision, an
Atlanta-based group that seeks to replace America's secular
democracy with a "Christian" regime based on "biblical law,"
including enforcement of the harsh legal code of the Old
Testament. He has also served as an advisor to the Plymouth
Rock Foundation, a Plymouth, Mass., group with similar views.

Brame recently resigned from the American Vision board after
the group's controversial agenda became public. Though Brame
served on the board since at least 1994, he told The Wall
Street Journal that he was unaware of American Vision's
extreme views.

American Vision has described democracy as "the first step
toward fascism," argues that women must be subordinate to
men and insists that the Bible requires the death penalty for
gays."

Can we say *Taliban*? Thus it begins.

I find it hard to believe Bush has an 85% approval rating. People need to take a good hard look at who they elected next time. This is beyond offensive.

Gee, guess I'd better get ready to be drug to my fathers house and stoned. (Or does the babble say anything about having a child outside marriage?) I damn sure remember most women getting stoned before a child could be born - unless they were slaves - and those were only the children of gawd's chosen ones. Hmmm.....is she held accountable for it too? This could get sticky real quick - how many will be killed for just this alone - considering the numbers of children in single parent homes.

TOP TEN REASONS TO EXECUTE GAYS:

10. They make straight guys' houses look badly decorated.
9. Girls like 'em better as friends.
8. They won't watch the Super Bowl and belch loudly with the rest of us.
7. They make straight guys look badly dressed (Snake is exempt from this one)

Some one else will have to do the rest, but as you can plainly see, gays are horrible, awful people who must be wiped out before they improve the rest of society.

My kids still love me.

5. Lisps and limp wrists are annoying.

4. Better decorating sense than I can ever hope to have. (If I made Christopher Lowell a nice cheesecake, would he come to my house and do something about my living room?)

Well, unfortunately, in the wake of 11 Sept too many Americans are willing to overlook this premise. I want to feel safe - therefore my government should protect me - let them decide what's best for me. I don't see a loss of my freedoms, the new laws haven't affected me in anyway. I don't see what's wrong with requiring everyone to carry national ID. There is no impingement upon my freedom by the government forcing me to carry such.

These are all things I have heard from people around me everytime the issue is raised. So what, who cares. They don't see the concept of a return to the Alien and Sedition Acts (for those who have ever heard of them) or McCarthyism (after I explain what that was) or the new Ashcroft, Rumsfeld, Bush coalition government. I want to scream and beat this concept into their heads, they don't care. This apathy, by the general citizen, is the most frightening of all. Fortunately, there is one rational person where I work.

This probably deserves a poll - and maybe I'll set it up. But has anyone ever noticed that it is those citizens who operate outside the mainstream, i.e. atheists, agnostics, wiccans, pagans, neo-pagans, etc, that actually care about this stuff, where the average citizen doesn't see a problem? This is an observation - in my own admitedly limited sphere - that I have made.

I even met one lady who thinks that American law enforcement should be taken over by the military. When Mrs. Average starts advocating martial law, I get worried.

This hits the core of the problem. Those people who are actually exercising their first amendment rights, are the first ones to express concern where the government is going. Usually due to historical patterns. When the rights grabbers get started, it rarely stops at the "problem people", it usually goes straight to the "people who think differently." It was due to these people that, I think, Benjamin Franklin made his now often quoted statement about security and freedom. It's been a problem for over 200 years, through vigilance the rights grabbers can be stopped.

Hatten_jc,

If you would like to use the correct English spelling in your signature line, change it to this:

American Vision's website: http://www.avision1.com/ The website is mostly a catalog of books, tapes, and other junk they have for sale, but there is a revealing "Mission Statement" that says, among other things, that "Right thought precedes right action." They apparently take a very strong creationist stance (yikes!).

Just in case AV's own merchandising pitch misses anyone, American Vision president Gary DeMar has his own direct marketing company, Nelson Direct, which sells "quality Christian Merchandise." http://www.nelsondirect.com/nelsondirect/bio.asp?cid=1581
You can e-mail this stalwart leader of Christian business at garydemar@mindspring.com
