Lisa and I met last week for two days here in Denver. Whoops!
Question - what did we discuss? Besides the military - all of you! Well there were other topics of discussion, ranging from alphabet soup to silly nonsense.
We'll have to do this again soon, and maybe some pics.

Completely unfair and unacceptably provocative to say you've talked about all of us. Now we'll all wonder...
do they STILL make that god-awful raspberry-flavored beer in the Denver area brew-pubs?
My kids still love me. |

Yes, but undeniably fun.
If I actually drank/went out more often - I could probably tell you. But since I don't, I have no idea.

Well, of course we had fun. Sitting around yakking and so on... Something I haven't done in a while.
Yes, I'm a bit of a loner.

Hey, my company is finally letting me go to Denver the week of January 7!
I'm pretty shy though, so if you were so inclined, you'd have to work at convincing me to meet you. Or you could just offer to buy me a drink, and I'm there!

Rhetorical question: And which one of the rest of us wouldn't want to have been a fly on the wall there!?!
Glad you both got a chance for some 'unwinding' time!

Geez. Y'all go out and have a big time without us. We are sooooooo put out.
If you all manage to get up to Chicago, let me know. There's a place here called Timothy O'Toole's which I'd be willing to meet folks. (If my wife doesn't have other plans for me during the week.)

I had a blast, but wow, was I ever tired by the time I got home. I arrived in Denver around 3ish on Thursday, and I don't think we slept more than 3 hours at a stretch until Saturday. Yes, yes, lots of gossip, but nothing bad. Can't wait for Trish to decided to try and find Rapid City! (Its about 6 and a half hours, as long as you don't run into any excitable law enforcement officials.) Tokyo, have Trish take you to a place called the "Rock Bottom". A microbrewery with great food. "Rock Bottom"? Am I reading that right? They have a place right here in downtown Minneapolis, too. I might have to convince a few friends of mine to go there...

Yes, Rock Bottom. Was thinking of where else there might be - but LoDo is full of places. I just generally avoid LoDo like the plague - if I can. No parking, you have to pay for it when you find some, and you'd never think a place could be so noisy. As I told Lisa, that one just opened. There are quieter place, I just have to see if any of them are still open. But none of them are micro-brews.
Let me know TD. There is that little Irish pub over off of Independence somewhere - if I can find it again. They were fairly quiet six years ago when I lived in that part of town. Otherwise - I'll check with ???? Don't think anyone I know goes out to quiet little bars - none of them have time really.

Oh, for heaven's sake. Take him to Casa Bonita. The food's mediocre but at least the atmosphere's kitschy. (Really, how can you not love sword fights and cliff-diving INSIDE a restaurant?)

Oooo, I like sword fights! This will be my first business trip, so I'm a bit nervous (I've never had a rental car before!) My wife may come with me for a day or two, so any and all recommendations for good restaurants/sites will be appreciated (Trish already supplied me with a small list; Thanks Trish! )
I'm going for software training, and I'll be there for 5 days. 8:30 to 4ish will be work stuff (), so I'll only really have the nice cold nights to play with...

Ffft, ffft, hiss....
Casa Bonita!? Ick! The food is not even mediocre any more. OK, the cliff diving and the sword fights are pretty cool for a restraunt. Wouldn't a Medieval (sp?) place be better. Jousting and such.
I'd really take him to Los Arcos for Mexican food - they've finished their remodel.
The Brown Palace - but that's a little on the expensive side.
'Course I could recommend the Fort. But be prepared to spend minimum $75 - $100 for dinner for two. This does not include the bar.
Also, which part of town will you be in?
Hey, Garrette - there's always the Trail Dust! Just don't wear a tie.

Englewood. I love Mexican (and I'm on a continual quest to find the perfect Margarita). And I definitely want to spend a ridiculous amount of money at a fancy-shmancy restaurant at least one night.

Ridiculous amount of money at a fancy restaurant would be The Fort. Let me know, so I can call and make reservations for you. You don't just walk in there.
Best margaritas I remember were at Baby Doe's or the little restaurant across from it - but I don't remember the name. Those are in Denver proper, close to Downtown.
Let me know about The Fort and how many so I can make reservations for you.

Spend lots of money? Then avoid the Trail Dust, though you might mysteriously lose some of it. (Actually, I've only been to the Trail Dust once, and I liked it).
Okay, silly recommendation, but I think it's fun. Go to the Tivoli Movie Theater but go early and have a cheap lunch and good beer at the brewpub right next to it. It's mostly a college crowd and it's loud, but it's polite and fun. Peanut shells tossed on the floor and those nation-wide networked trivia games on the telly.
If it's Mexican, though, you shouldn't have too much problem, but I'd recommend you go for something a bit more southwesty which will be easier to find. It's basically Mexican but more grilled than fried and, I think, much better.
And if you're serious about spending the money, then take Trish's advice and go to the Fort.
(Though Englewood is really pretty close to Casa Bonita...)
