I was watching the Simpsons today, and Reverend Lovejoy made a comment about the Bible that made me LOL. I don't think I caught all of it.
Here's what I got:
"[something][something] will get more souls than this 2,000-year old sleeping pill."
Anybody catch it? Or am I gonna have to wait til it hits reruns?

WOW! What a conincidence, I'm watching and taping the new episode as we speak. Only 1/2 paying attention but I'll go back over it later. BTW, I also bought a Simpsons trivia game that seems to be new on the market, at least I've never seen it before. It comes in tin cans in the shape of either Bart, Homer or the whole family. Has anyone seen any other tins. I want the whole collection. Thanks

No time for reruns, here it is: 1st of all for those who didn't see it or don't know about the Simpsons, the plot was that Lisa decided to become a Buddhist and her mother Marge was 'concerned'. Marge: ''You think we can bribe her back (to being a xian) with Xmas?'' Rev. Lovejoy: ''Marge, you can save more souls with roller skates and Easy Bake Ovens than this (holding up bible) 2,000 year old sleeping pill''

BTW, My all time favorite Simpson quote which I used to use in email, etc., is what Supperentendant Chamers said when he heard 'acting' principal Flanders saying a pray over the loud speaker at Springfield Elementary school. ''God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place in organized religion''

My favorite is when Rev Lovejoy's quote when Lisa's wedding goes down the tubes,
"This would have never happened in the church with god, instead of outside here in the cheapness of nature"
"Damn you people. Go back to your shanties." --- Shooter McGavin |

Here's another favorite scene:
Homer is on a tropical island, trying to impress his neighbors by being a "humanitarian". He's trying to explain religion to the natives.
One of them asks, "If God is all-powerful, why does he need us to worship him?"
Homer answers, "He's powerful, but insecure. Like Barbara Streisand before James Brolin."

No problem! BTW, thanks for starting this subject. Sometimes in the old Atheist Chat Room on AOL some of us would get into a Simpsons trivia rivalry. LOL, I think some others got bord but maybe we can pick it up here. I didn't get into the Simpsons until their 2nd or 3rd season but I'm a huge fan now. Not as good on all the facts but would love to converse about them. I have a stuffed Homer 'doll'. Some buttons, a picture of Bart saying, 'Underacheiver and proud of it'. A hair barrete with the family picture on it. Some store bought videos and of course many I taped. I have a friend who's taped every episode from the beggining. Don't know if he still is, I would think so though. Care to add any info?
