FYI:
Digging for the Truth: Archaeology and the Bible

On tonight (Monday, Dec. 17th at 9 PM EST) on the History Channel.
-----------
Summary:
The rush to excavate important historic sites from the ancient world took an interesting turn in the late 1800's, when a new brand of adventurer took to the field. With a shovel in one hand and a Bible in the other, Biblical Archeologists set out to dig up the truth about scriptural events. They may have uncovered more than they bargained for.

DIGGING FOR TRUTH takes a hard look at this difficult and controversial archeological discipline. Authors like Philip Davies (In Search of Ancient Israel) and Israel Finklestein (The Bible Unearthed) discuss the most important discoveries and how they have sparked spirited--and spiritual--debates among theologians, archeologists and historians. The stakes can be high, and the potential impact reaches far beyond the cloistered world of academia, potentially threatening the foundations of ancient religions and even affecting the political climate in one f the world's least stable areas.

Come back to this thread and discuss.

If history is any guide (pun intended), it will be repeated many times over the coming weeks. I hope to catch it later too.

It looks like there will be a future airing on Dec. 23rd at 6 PM EST. Also it looks like this whole week is "Mysteries of the Bible" week. Check out the stations site:

I saw and actually liked this show. It was very interesting expecially at the end when they got into archaeology being used as a propaganda tool.
