you imagined. This was a Book Forum on CSPAN. Here are two webcast versions of it. The authors describe the complete takeover of Congress by Republicans with incredible dirty tricks and manipulation of the process.

Every once in a while some of this makes the news but from the sounds of things it's business as usual. Thousand page Bills are up for vote with no time to read them. Stuff is added after Bills are signed. Two Senators even went so far as to put fake testimony in the Congressional Record then tried to present it to the Supreme Court as if it had actually occurred. (I saw this separate from the book forum.) These Republican power mongers have completely subverted democracy here. It is well worth watching. I haven't read the book yet.
