This piece is cruel, accurate, and hilarious:http://www.interglobal.org/weblog/archives/00000345.htm
Stereotyped media assumptions are also a subject for skeptical analysis, and nothing is more stereotyped than the commercial career-building power of standard Vietnam paralels. These are based on flawed conclusions, distorted logic, and lazy, ignorant, class affirming bias. Yet, these dogmas have dominated coverage of international conflict for 30 years.
The pundits and "experts" were spectacularly wrong about Desert Storm, but the Somalia fiasco restored some of their confidence. Now, they have been humiliated again. Is it enough to cause them to take a critical look at the assumptions that underlie their amazingly consistent errors?

Abducting UFOs and conspiring against conspiracy theorists since 1980.

I love it! Wit has to find itself buried in the truth. Thanks Piltdown.

It is by the goodness of God that in our country we have those three unspeakably precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to practice either of them. -Mark Twain
