This from an AP article at CNN.com, without further introduction: quote: Rove: Reporters slam politicians to save selves
Saturday, July 29, 2006; Posted: 10:15 p.m. EDT (02:15 GMT)
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Presidential adviser Karl Rove said Saturday that journalists often criticize political professionals because they want to draw attention away from the "corrosive role" their own coverage plays in politics and government.
"Some decry the professional role of politics. They would like to see it disappear," Rove told graduating students at the George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management. "Some argue political professionals are ruining American politics -- trapping candidates in daily competition for the news cycle instead of long-term strategic thinking in the best interest of the country."

Yo: Moon Man...and other Skeptical Friends: Mr. Rove has this way about him: going rhetorically off half-cocked, so to speak.
As the Bushitism: "Spreading Democracy" is just bull feces, so is the Rovian concept: "professional politician."
Christ, Karl: Give us a friggin' break! The first order of business for any politician who would also be professional is to conduct oneself with some semblance of statesmanship.
A professional surgeon won't allow his or herself to perform a sloppy procedure.
A profession politician won't allow his or herself to govern poorly.
"Tis clear, from his record, that G. War Bush doesn't come close to being professional as a politician, businessman or airman.

And that from the guy who perfected news media manipulation. He's just manipulating more and I'll bet it was calculated as well. He probably can't turn the talking points off. Repeat the mantras often enough and you believe them yourself.
