Oh what asylum did this person escape from?! Started off simply thinking GWB was acting less religious, turning away from Jesus. If so that would be a GOOD thing! Then maybe we won't have to worry about him appointing more people who have themselves anointed with holy oils in celebration.
WWJD, a more appropriate concept for the bible would be WWGK (who would god kill?), although the answer tends to be along the lines of everyone.
Then I got to the section calling for pacifism. That kind of pacifism only works when dealing with civilized people with at least some amount of morals concerning attacking people who do not fight back. It don't work on people who gleefuly slaughter their perceived enemies no matter who they are.
Of course I'm not calling for wholesale slaughter in response to terrorism. That would make us about as bad. A just and measured response live we have been doing is what is called for.
In a way it is sort of like debateing the paranormal/creationism/other nonsence. Careful debate and explination (pacifism) will convince many reasonable people of the accuracy of your position, but there are some hard heads who can never be convinced (terrorists). Debate and evidence are never going to have an effect on the likes of Dr. Dino, just as pacifism will never work on the likes of Osama.

This chick needs to take a peek out of the window in her ivory tower and really see the world. Since she write for a newspaper, she ought to try reading one once in a while. I can't help but think she'd probably try to reason with a rabid dog. Lisa

Where do these people come from, and why are they paid to write this nonsense?

Sum Ergo Cogito
And some people wonder where the morons who think we should appologize to OBL come from. Although the teaching of Jesus advocates "turn the other cheek", it doesn't mention anything about what you should do after you run out of cheeks. Let's face it, the north and south towers were both cheeks. Ghandi was protesting the British occupation of his country and could afford to use pacifistic resistance to a government who tried to be reasonable. (They didn't always succeed.)

My "cheek count" is a little different, Valiant.
Right face cheek - 1993 WTC bombing Left face cheek - African embassy bombings Right butt cheek - USS Cole Left butt cheek AND genitals AND rectum - Sept. 11th
But regardless of how "cheeky" you are, sooner or later your faced with a choice of succumbing or fighting back. The passengers on the AA flight from Paris to Miami didn't turn the other cheek, they jumped down the throat of that particular asshole.

That is one sick twisted mind that has no grasp of reality. The real test would be her facing down bin Laden. Would she attempt to reason with the Taliban as they stoned her and be a martyr to her ideals or would she be glad when the Marines hit the ground running?
It is by the goodness of God that in our country we have those three unspeakably precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to practice either of them. -Mark Twain |
