I know there's an old thread where we discussed various supposed Virgin Mary sightings in things like cheese sandwiches, bridge overpasses, balloons, and the like. However, I can't find it.

In any case, USA Today has a new one:

I love a god who can manifest an image of the holy mother of his son in a piece of chocolate. There's a rather rude query re eating, virginity, and oral sex, but I'll let it go.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — As a chocolatier to the rich and famous, Martucci Angiano has posed with many celebrities.
But on Thursday she held in her hand a figure that dazzles her more than any Hollywood star: a 2-inch-tall column of chocolate drippings that workers at her gourmet chocolate company believe bears a striking resemblance to the Virgin Mary.

Since the discovery at Bodega Chocolates, Angiano's employees have spent much of their time hovering over the tiny figure, praying and placing rose petals and candles around it.

Doesn't that little trollop ever stay home? She's nothing but trouble!

She stops traffic everywere she goes, and now she's responsible for an illegal work slow-down at the pogey-bait factory. If she needs attention so badly, she should just become a porn star and have done with it!

Yeesh!

Somewhere in the story it's stated that the Maltese Falcon was a gift (to or from) the King of Malta and involved somehow with knights returning from the crusades for the Holy Grail, which in turn was connected to the holy family. So I guess that's a tenuous connection as good as any other. However, to me it just looks more like the Maltese Falcon from the prop department.

It may be a bit hard to see, but:

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

The woman who let her imagination run away "discovered" the chocolate icon said she carries a prayer card with an image of the Virgin Mary with her everywhere she goes. Can you say "confirmation bias?"
