I'm sure you all got them too. Are these guys tapping into the website remotely? Surely they aren't PMing everyone one at a time. Is there a way to block the PM all command if there is such a command?

They can't be tapping into the website remotely. They went to the trouble of registering to do this thing. I do think that perhaps we should remove the “Send PM to all users” box since if we really want to reach all users, there can't be much reason for the PM to be private.
We will look into that.

Did you receive a PM or an email?
If you got a PM, then no, they aren't PMing "all," since I didn't get one. If you got email, then no, they aren't emailing "all," either, since I can see them in the Web logs emailing one person at a time.
The email issue has had another hurdle added to it, in that new members will have to make a certain number of forum posts before they can email anyone. PMing is still available to all members, regardless of post count. |

They know what will happen if they mess with a friend of the Shah. |

I remember when the Shah lost power. He suddenly found out how many friends he actually had: none, including us.
And to this very day, the fruits of his mistakes, plus ours, are shaping the mid-east. Interesting guy, though.
Say, I just had a thought -- ouch! Get these guys on the Ivory Coast and Nigeria, and where ever, to send their offers to Iran and N. Korea. Give it a year and they'll all be too broke to build expensive bombs, and some of the poverty problems in Africa will be eliminated. Everybody wins!

Dang it. I didn't get one.
Sort of gives me mixed feelings.
I'm kinda glad I didn't get one, but kinda bummed that I was overlooked.

Two PMs one day apart from different senders. Sorry, I deleted first and didn't keep the names but Gorgo got at least one of them too.
So they actually picked me and didn't PM all? I'm probably on a government hit list. |

I got a PM too. And really, I still don't see a reason for a "PM all" box, even though perhaps this time it wasn't used. |

It could be a trap. Use it and you are suspended for a month.

Any member may disable all private messages by clicking the "Options" icon on the far right within Private Messages.
Ditto for email from the forum. The only trouble is that by doing this you block legitimate messages, too. It just depends upon your own tolerance levels.

The PMs were a minor nuisance. I brought it up to ask what was going on. It seems we have a secret operative registered. Next time I'll save it til I check who sent it. We can't send anonymous PMs can we? It didn't dawn on me it was internally generated. |
