I'm not sure whether this is a site problem or a problem at my end, but the graphic at the top of the SFN page is not loading for me. This started a few minutes ago.
Also, some options, along the top of the page such as Home Active Topic, etc. are invisible.

Yes, all pages, even after I've rebooted. And the "reply with quote" icon graphic is also missing, though the other icons next to it are visible. Oh, the following text (mostly links), under where the banner is missing, is there, but white-on-white for me:

That's really quite odd. Are you getting the "broken graphic" icon in place of the "reply with quote" button, or is it just missing entirely?
I won't be able to access the logs for this time period until Saturday night. Hope you can hold out that long, or other clues surface as to the nature of the problem. |

Sometimes when I come here--pretty often really, perhaps a quarter of the time--the site will take a really long time to load. When the main page finally does pop up, everything is there except the "The Newest Posts in our Skeptic Forums" box on the right hand side. In it's place is a text error message saying the operation timed out.
Dunno if there's any connection.

Yah, I get the "broken graphic" icons for all the missing graphics. I can work around all the problems with no trouble. I just have to mouse-over any white-on-white text link like "Active Topics" first, to make it visible. BTW, I'm using the very newest version of FireFox, downloaded today. Possible problem, eh?

Okay, Dave, all the graphics and text links load wit IE. But I'm still going to stick with FireFox. You may defame me in the banner, and I'll never notice. ("SFN: Aside from HalfMooner, we don't suck!")

| Well, I can at least tell you that the white-on-white writing is due to the fact that the blue horizontal bar with the gray bars above and below that's the background for those text links is itself a graphics image that just isn't loading for you. But since the problem seems to be localized to the latest Firefox, you might consider submitting a bug report to them. |

I have also had this happen often (but not always) in the last week or two. |

| @tomic thinks that we need to archive a whole lot of the "current" threads to solve the slow-loading and timeout problems. I'm hesitant to do it personally, since @tomic is the one with all of the experience doing archiving. I apologize for any inconvenience. |

It turns out that he recent automatic update to FireFox that screwed up the loading of some (but not most) graphics on this site for me was an upgrade to the 1.5 version. I have now manually installed version 2.0, and no longer have that problem!
