(BTW, Filthy: I very much enjoyed following the link in your sig, and reading about that wonderfully nasty scoundrel, Soapy Smith.)
Glad you enjoyed it. The soapster was one of the truly great con artists, and one of my all-time favorites. His soap scam was a classic, and showed a prodigious understanding of human nature.
There really may be a need for people like Soapy Smith in this world, if only to keep us on our toes. But he did leave this mortal coil in a karmic manner appropriate to his kind.
Compare him with PT Barnum. Barnum used much of the same kind of showmanship and psychology, but mainly in the fairly honest pursuit of entertainment. And Barnum was so good to his circus "freaks" that they came to his financial aid when he needed help late in life.

And then there's Republica... Oh, never mind. This isn't the time or the place.
I think you ought to run this for a couple of days. See what contributions you get, and it's kind'a fun.

Thanks, I'll go with that suggestion, Filthy. Let's milk this until its teats bleed.

I remembered it was an assassin named Princip, but I hadn't known any of the other details. This all happened a bit before even my time. Thanks again, Filthy!

No. That's not trivial at all, but an important question and answer.

Though I like H.H.'s reply very much, my "ultimate trivia question" will have its delivery delayed until we've milked the trivia cow sufficiently. (Of course, it may not be easy to know precisely when the time is ripe.) If you don't like that, blame Filthy. Or blame Canada.

That reminds me of the aphorism: "Give a man a hammer, and pretty soon all problems start to look like nails to him." I guess when you give a sick fuck a scalpel, all problems may start to look like surgeries to him.

I'm not gonna give you the answer. Anybody who doesn't know this one doesn't deserve to.
