Your assumption is wildly incorrect. Instead my conclusion is based upon the fact that when you do answer questions, the answers are decidedly irrational, unscientific and lacking in skepticism.quote: I don't answer questions, that is your impression and some others here, but if they stay around they will see their questions either answered or no longer of importance.
This part of your response is irrelevant to the topic at hand.quote: Besides, other than the people writing messages here, there are people who are reading the messages, even guests visiting here. They are the ones who can see for themselves and derive benefits to themselves in the increase of critical knowledge and also useful tips for living life.
I'm well aware of the lurkers, and feel confident that they will use your example as one to not follow. But they, as well, are irrelevant to my question.quote: You see, even without answering each other interminably, we can be of help to readers who are after reading useful information or opinions or even shall we say premises and logic from participants in a thread?
Ah, a very subtle dig, and still further distraction away from yourself.quote: Besides, when someone expects an answer and he does not get one, then he should congratulate himself because his counter-discussant could be at a loss for ideas or words to answer him.
Why would a rational, scientific skeptic make such an assumption when there are many more equally plausible reasons for a person to not answer a question? Why would that even be relevant to the question I asked? |

Yes, you missed the fact that, like so many other folks we see here, Pachomius has redefined the words 'lurker', 'discussion', 'rational', 'scientific' and 'skepticism' (and perhaps others) to suit his own personal goals, instead of using the definitions that everyone else uses in order to honestly and effectively communicate. |

Dave, you allege that I have "redefined the words 'lurker', 'discussion', 'rational', 'scientific' and 'skepticism' (and perhaps others) to suit his [my] own personal goals, instead of using the definitions that everyone else uses in order to honestly and effectively communicate."
Do you have evidence?
Also you allege as a fact, or the fact here, "the fact that, like so many other folks we see here, Pachomius has redefined the words 'lurker', 'discussion', 'rational', 'scientific' and 'skepticism' (and perhaps others) to suit his own personal goals, instead of using the definitions that everyone else uses in order to honestly and effectively communicate.

Yes, and I believe I have effectively presented it already.quote: [Just being light-hearted, Dave, in this anything goes department.
Well, you could have posted this in the Humor folder.quote: So please lighten up, specially in this season of peace and good will...
It's really sad when people have to point out that this is the "season of peace and good will," as if that "season" should not be all year long.quote: ...and I beg to be dispensed from producing evidence that this is the season of peace and good will.]
When I see old ladies elbowing each other out of the way at K-Mart to get their grandkids the latest hot toy, you may indeed need to provide such evidence. |

Apparently, Pachomius, you told me to lighten up only to use my lightening up as a club with which to beat me. Nice going. And that after all you're "let's be friends first" nonsense. |

I don't know, Dave, you seem to have inside your mind and heart a kind of what I might for lack of a better phrase, distorting device, twisting everything into anything for which you feel like having to as McQ says act or actuate with an adversarial and confrontational posture.
Consider these words put in bold by yours truly, in your message above:
quote: Apparently, Pachomius, you told me to lighten up only to use my lightening up as a club with which to beat me. Nice going. And that after all you're "let's be friends first" nonsense.
I don't think I have received any definite answer from you to my question whether you are a Buddhist, Buddhist sympathizer, or doing Buddhist meditation in regular sessions.
Even though I do not myself need Buddhism, not even meditation Buddhist style, I believe as with so many Westerners even skeptics among them like a prominent member in JREF and others elsewhere in websites I had the luck or bane to have joined up and now no longer around in them, you could reap beneficial fruits of equanimity and even serenity and good cheer in your heart and mind by doing at least Buddhist meditation.
Oh no, not again, I am into clubbing you... etc.
I will just limit, perhaps, my messages to the humor department; then we can all at least from your part and others like yourself not feel that I am into clubbing you; but all of us will lighten up and have roaring laughter or even just a soft hahaha and a sweet smile.

All of the above is more solid evidence for my hypothesis that it's not the questions you ask that get you banned and "hated," Pachomius, it's your holier-than-thou attitude and overall rudeness. |

You are all over the board, huh guy? You try to be skeptic, but loathe the production of evidence. You don't answer others post yet expect your posts to recieve attention, and still claim to be neither conceeded nor self righteous.
quote:
I don't answer questions, that is your impression and some others here, but if they stay around they will see their questions either answered or no longer of importance.
None of my questions have ever been answered and I think they are still every bit as important. How long exactly does it take you to answer a question? 30 posts or just 29? How can you answer questions of others anyway since you loathe the research and presenting of evidence?

Besides, other than the people writing messages here, there are people who are reading the messages, even guests visiting here. They are the ones who can see for themselves and derive benefits to themselves in the increase of critical knowledge and also useful tips for living life.
Are you Martha Stuart? I have seen no useful tips and certainly no evidence of any claims you have ever made. Visitors and posters alike will most likely, as we do, see an arrogant troll.
quote:
You see, even without answering each other interminably, we can be of help to readers who are after reading useful information or opinions or even shall we say premises and logic from participants in a thread?
The word opinion is far reaching in your vocabulary. The only useful information that you could post is the verifiable kind, which seems to be the kind you loathe to post. Guess you are as about as useful as sunglasses for a mole.
quote:
Besides, when someone expects an answer and he does not get one, then he should congratulate himself because his counter-discussant could be at a loss for ideas or words to answer him.

Yea, that's what its all about. I guess from your own definition your at a perpertual loss for words, funny thing is you continue to post on and on without ever actually adding to the conversation, and I do use that term loosly. |

Aztec priests used obsidian knives to cut out human hearts in sacrificial ceremonies. On a related note, have you ever considered your heart is something you were never meant to see or touch? Ditto for your skeleton. After showing him a picture of a fossilized skull from Science magazine the other day, I had to explain to my 3.5 year old son that he will likely never have the opportunity to see his own skull. And if he does, it will be under very bad circumstances. |
