I was sitting in a parking lot at a geyser in Yellowstone when my husband came up to me and said the rumor going around was terrorists had crashed into the World Trade Center. I asked him if he was joking and he said no. At that time I burst into tears, saddened at the loss of innocence that Americans had compared with the day to day terror many humans live with. Then to shock of my husband my second comment was "Well, How Bush handles this may be the only way he could get elected to a second term."

Now let me state that I in no way think this was orchestrated by the Republican Party as a way for Bush to get a second term......hmmm......anyway I just meant that before September 11,2001 I did not believe Bush could be more then a one term president after his weak showing in the election a year before but now he could do what a majority of the voting citizens considered a good job at getting the bad guys and get himself reelcted.

Actually it was a sad yet good time to be on vacation. We were away from all the press coverage. In the remote part of the country where Yellowstone is there was no radio or television available so we did not sit glued to our television witnessing the horror of those photos over and over. We flew the first day the airports were open again with absolutely no fear other then we might get stuck in Salt Lake City. We got back after some of the insanity was over and the facts were much clearer. While I was away I had refused to even listen to the news. I had been in a good place enjoying the beauty that is the true America. Full of trees, waterfalls, wild animals and mountains with other people looking for beauty during a time when the ugliness was being shown on the television again and again and again...
