Haven't been to the BA board yet this morning. By my, haven't things been nice and quiet? There's been folks writing in with questions, others looking for the answers. There's been people agreeing to disagree on a few hot-button issues. Wow, and not a troll in sight! Golly, a real forum!

Had to go back and re-read the whole thread to see what you meant. Screw 'em.
A couple of them seem to take exception with our opinion that he's a lunatic. Have these people ever heard his show? If they want to admire him, fine. Stay out of science classrooms, please.
Is Art Bell in and of himself dangerous? Nah, I've seen his picture, I could take him. What's dangerous is is hoard of devotees that think that anything he or his equally whacked guests say is the gospel.
Heaven's Gate was looking for an excuse to join a spaceship. Bell and his guest told them where to find it. Broadcasting that there is a spaceship hiding behind the Hale-Bopp comet is irresponsible, shoddy, tabloid journalism. Someone can admire Mr. Bell if they want, but there's no other honest description for it.

Yes, if he's taken as SciFi, he's sort of amusing. But I've met too many people who take him seriously. My co-worker claimed to listen to Bell because he's a skeptic (yeah, right) and the government keeps secrets. I just wanted to scream: "Of course the government keeps secrets! Look around you, numbscull, isn't the fact we're all wearing matching outfits a tip-off here? We all have security clearances!"
But:
1) It's just a mesa
2) No cities on the moon
3) No alien spacecraft buzzing around Hale-Bopp.
What has happened to critical thinking in this country? When people like Hoagland and Bell have huge followings, yet people who at least try to stay abreast of science and technology are referred to as "elitist".

But those secrets, i believe, are rather mundane compared to what these nuts think.
And I agree, Art Bell paints himself as being a serious journalist uncovering this crap, when he's not. That is irresponsable. He can't really be blamed for the Hale-Bopp suicides, those people were nuts, BUT in a way he should be held accountable because he really does think of himself as exposing the truth.

I once said something very much similar to 'Slushwreck' in my shop. She was willing to believe anything anyone told her. The silly woman...anyway she ruined all the hard work I did getting those guys to accept me with the simple words 'But I might get my hands dirty.' My reply, 'It's a f***ing airplane you dumbsh*t, of course your gonna get f***ing dirty!'

LOL, Trish, if we ever have the chance to meet face-to-face, I think we'll get along well. I've had a few similiar conversations myself, and not only with women.
Onto a BA Bitch subject. I responded to one of Piper's posts that really pissed me off. I told him to just go away, turn off his computer and play with his pictures. He never responded! Should I feel hurt? Am I not worthy?
Just thought I'd haul the Piper question over to our spanking new BAB Board.

I was just over at the BA Board. Who's "Rob"? He gave Megan a HB answer to one of her questions. Full of govmint conspiracy crap.
Okay, I'll admit I flamed. Anyone with me if "Rob" has the guts to answer?
In all of his statements I asked him to please provide proof. Considering that, we'll probably never hear from him again.

Yeah, well I have little to no tolerance for idiot women that join the Marine Corps and think they shouldn't have to do their jobs because their going to get dirty. Sheesh! She should have been S-1 not maintenance.
