A wedding ceremony? Isn't that where you pay way too much money to be around a lot of people you don't like? I was married in Korea. You just go around to a bunch of offices, sign/stamp, sign/stamp, and voila, you're married. The last step is to have it registered at the American Embassy so it will be legal in the States. Whole thing costs about 4 bucks. Lisa

In a bamboo grove, by a waterfall in the Manoa valley on the island of Oahu by Judge Hee. No guests...the party was held six months later on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Well I'm not married yet, however the wedding will this November at my fiance's brothers resort in Northern Australia with family and close friends....about 50 in all.
The ceremony will be an twilight one, not too formal, held outside and presided by a Justice of the Peace.
When it is all finished there will be all the alcohol you can drink and all the food you can stuff your face with. Hopefully the party goes all night and then off to the States for our road trip (which I think I told you all about in an earlier post).

I wanted Vegas.
That's where my two were. No big deal, both times at the court house, at night. Seems to me as I recall it was less expensive at those hours. Anyway it's all a blur, I don't even remember the dates. And I don't drink! My present 'room mate' says it's the 1st of Aug. I think it's the 3rd but I really don't remember the year. Want to hear a funny story related to that? Well you're gona, anyway. We drove to Lost Wages with another couple (his friends) and spent the night or maybe it was a couple of days. Didn't go to the court right away, gambled 1st, by the time we decided to go we had run out of money. And at that time it was only $6. Didn't get married, just drove home. Went back several months later to finish what we started. Ok so it's not that funny, guess you had to be there! BTW, all you do is wait around until it's your turn, you go in a room, the judge says...something, I don't remember nor do I recall a wittness being there. Takes about one minute and that's it. You get the lucky piece of paper that says your spouse can get a 'green card'. I HATE the government for making me get married. Marrage is the stupidest thing ever invented by Man.

The mayor of Plymouth, Ohio (pop.2000) in the mayor's office. My wife (ex) was Catholic, and I was an atheist and she was from another diocese, so there was too much negotiating to do to get married by a priest.
I did perform one marriage as a minister of the Universal Life Church. It was in Hocking Hills State (Ohio) Park, in front of a waterfall with just a few guests. Very nice. I'm living with someone now. Don't know if I'll ever get married again.

My son picked Circus Circus in Vegas and as he is about the biggest clown we know it was the perfect choice. It was a nice Chapal though and the person was a minister but it was just a short typical ceremony with no rligous emphasis. Just the "Let No man put assunder" stuff.
Despite the seperation of church and state you can't seem to get anything done in America without God mentioned somewhere. Not even pay with cash.
I recently testified in court and had to ask in advance to affirm that I was aware of perjury rather then be sworn in. If god had blessed America then I would be really worried about him anyway.

#1 church wedding by a United Church of Christ minister.
#2 church wedding by a Lutheran Missouri Synod minister.
These at the insistence of my wives.

My (soon to be ex) wife insisted on a full Catholic wedding, complete with mass. We were married at her alma mater, St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX. Little did I know she had her fingers crossed during the vows - after almost 13 years she finally realized I wouldn't convert and she didn't want to be married to an atheist anymore. The military lifestyle hasn't helped either.

Circus Circus, good choice. I don't recall ever staying there in the hotel but I used to play there all the time. Great gaming tables. I believe they were one of the 1st Vegas casinos to have No Smoking tables too. When I was married in Vegas, I don't recall having any god message in the 'ceremony' such as it was, a few seconds of do you take so and so, etc., that's all. We didn't even have rings. I've never worn a ring of any kind on 'that' finger, least people might think I was married. And for the court/jury thing, last time I was in court a couple of years ago because of my x-sister, I told them I didn't want to swear to god so they gave me a different oath. I am supposed to be on jury duty in a April and I'm already planning what I'll say IF is should get on a jury and have to take another oath. It's up to US to make it known there are other kinds of people in this country besides the Jesus freaks. Stand up for yourself and don't let anyone push you around.

My first, only, and still perfect marriage happenned in a Catholic church. The reasons were: 10) This is Cajun country. Where else would one be married? 9) The priest was an acquaintance of ours. Mutual friends. 8) Everybody knows where the Catholic church is. So, directions were only required for my out of state half of the family. 7) The church was close to home, making for a short ride. 6) All the parents wanted a chuch wedding. 5) We thought we would do, at least, one traditional thing in our lifetimes. 4) This church is really old, and has a whole lot of really cool stained glass, and all sorts of other really cool things that Catholic churches have. 3) It was cheap, since we were considered members of the parish. I think. (We paid for our own oversized wedding, but the details seem to have gotten lost in a fog of booze, and other essentials for a retiring bachelor) 2) My wife used to be Catholic. (Now, she's a Catholic Unitarian Universalist, I think) 1) And for the number one reason why we were married in a Catholic Church; My in-laws are reeeeally Catholic. I know!
Any questions?

Just got married. Was supposed to get married at Parrothead's in Key West by a naval captain on New Year's Eve. Due to boat sinking, the flu, a death in the family, bad weather, a maid of honor who had to work, and huge fight with my fiancee, I ended up getting married Jan. 2nd in Phillipe Park at the edge of Tampa Bay next to an Indian Burial Mound by a notary public in the wind and rain and cold with a bridesmaid named Chuck. No mention of God or religion in the ceremony... Thinking about calling Sally Jesse and getting on one of her wedding disaster shows.
A colder place I've never known, than with someone but yet alone. |

Outside. Justice of the peace. No god/bleesing/praying stuff. The marriage was horrible, but the food was good.
My family is Catholic, to the extent that they expect a few nuns in every generation. They made no comments about the non-god type ceremony. They still make the not-so-tactful hint about getting my son baptised. I'm waiting until my grandmother dies before I give them an honest answer. No point in making an old lady cry, her delusions aren't going anywhere at this stage of the game.
Um... Is that my beer? |

The boat SANK!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Man, that is one heckuva omen. Or maybe your marriage has been pre-disastered.
My first one was on April 10th. The same day the Titanic sailed to America and didn't quite make it.
