I know I'm alone in this for the most part.
But I'm an Anarchist. To be honest, I don't know if I will remain this way, but being Canadian, not even the Green Party holds any water to what I would like to see done in my country.
My question is then this.....
What are you?
As a skeptic myself I find it hard to choose the best of many evils, and here in Canada not only can we not vote for " None of the above" but voting for the individual is pointless due to insider lobbing within any party. My second question would be are you canadian or americian etc.... just to see if there is a differance in the answers.

When trying to put myself into categories I normally end up considering myself as miscellanious other. Still somehow at election time I always find myself suddenly becoming incredible pragmatic and vote for the lesser evil.
Last election I voted for the current German government. I could have wasted my voted for any of the dozen extreme parties and would have had the nice feeling that whenever the government screwed up I did not vote for them.
In the end I decided to compromise and rather bear a partial responsibility for a bad government then throw my vote away and risk a worse one.
I still can console me that my votes for the Socialist and the Greens would probably considered as sympathecising with anarchistic communist treehuggers in the US.

As a 1st generation USA, American, I believed what they told me in school about how our government started and how it (is supposed to) work. When I started voting, nothing ever won that I voted for. I felt people were so illogical and didn't know or understand the issues or else how could they vote the way they did. As I became more aware of politics I realized that the Demopublican were idiots and neither of the parties knew what they were doing.
I don't remember how long ago I started voting for and then became a card carrying member of the Libertarians but for sure in the last 3 presidental elections (and all the ones in between) I have voted straight party lines. Before that I'd switch back and forth for the person who seemed the 'lesser of two.....etc., etc.' AND I don't consider that I've wasted my vote, at least I'm true to my convictions.
The Libertarian party very well states my views as close as any one other entity could.

The problem with us U.S.'ers, is that we've confused democracy with voting. Even though we know that Cubans and other members of dictatorships vote. Sometimes voters have a great deal of influence within certain bounds in those states.
Anyway, there's little difference here. Those who we vote for are pre-selected, and sometimes, as in this last presidential election, it doesn't matter at all which one the voters pick.
Everyone talks about these extreme right-wing people like Clinton being 'middle of the road.' Nader was middle of the road, so I voted for him.

Me, I'm all over the board. I'm not a very fervent advocate of gun control, I'm a governmental conservative, Keynesian capitalist, social liberal, fervent advocate of the first amendment, semi-strict constructionist, think the 'War on Drugs' is fucking stupid, support the 'war on terror'.....
I will probably end up voting Libertarian in the next house election, only because our rep pissed me off by supporting a bill to post the ten commandments.
Otherwise, I will vote Democratic.

i usually go libertarian. i try to put elections in the perspective of buying sex toys. Make any choice you want. At the end of the day you end up just as fucked.

I wouldn't know what I was doing anyway. Heck, the last election, I just voted for whomever had the weirdest name, IMO. I didn't really care who won.

Every time an election rolls around, I think back to highschool, and the dweebs running for student council. Shame shit, different pile.
I vote farily right wing, based on principles of personal responsibility and fiscal pragmatism. Like it matters. But at least I can say I voted for someone who professes some of my politics.

I would like to point out that right now in the US, right wing equals fiscally irresponsible. From day one of the current admininistration to the present. No matter what's going on they want to cut taxes and spend more. If the economy is good, cut taxes, if it's bad cut some more. Makes no sense at all to me. Which is it???

I used to be very careful whom I voted for, but as I have got older I have become more cynical of the whole political system. I actually donkey voted on our last Federal election because there was no party or policy that blew wind up my skirt. (Not that I wear skirts that often).
Our current government however seems to be heading to the "White Australia" policy of the 50's and it disgusts me that out once multicultural nation seems to be run by racist fuckwits. I am almost ashamed to be Australian right now. I never ever thought that I would feel that way about my own country.
I am so angry with our government at the moment I don't even know where to start, but I won't bore you all with politics from this little fucked up backwater of the world.
But in answer to the question, I sit just on the left hand side of the political fence………

There is no way that people are going to get away from governmental rule. Chaos brings in the gangs (anarchists). One way or the other, there is going to be government (even if it might be difficult to discern).
I will go with the weak, corrupt politicians anytime. Without them, unfettered gangs (dictators) will rule the roost. I do not relish the idea of having a bunch of fanatics holding court upon the rest of the citizens. I think that the Founding Fathers of this wonderful country (U.S.) had it right. They had themselves experienced first-hand the disastrous result of the Divine Right of Kings. With Anarchy, one would get the Divine Right of the Head Anarchist and it would be back to another kind of control by jerks.
I realize that successful politicians are dishonest (because they have to please so many people with differing views). However, honest politicians become ex-politicians pretty quickly, because they fail to realize the needs of enough of their constituents to be able to hang onto their elected offices.
Notice what happened in Russia. Gangs of anarchists have ruled the economy since the fall of the Communist government. This may be gradually changing. However, I do not think that Putin is the way to go...

Just to put a footnote in here, not that it has anything to do with the subject directly, but to define what I call anarchist.
The Anacrhist believes that the goal of a society is the broaden the choices of the individual.
Any group of people dominated by any other is hindered to a continuing limiting number of choices.
Anachists are against states, armies, slavery, wage systems, capitalism, any kind of goverment, or governing body.
