I agree with Omega, the earth isn't anywhere near overpopulated. Just because we tend to congregate in certain established urban locations doesn't mean that there is no where else to go.

Come on, Snake! A desert or cold mountaintop are far from the only placed left that aren't huge cities! The majority of land in the U.S.A. is owned by the federal government [I think!], and hardly anyone lives on it.

We already produce enough food in the U.S. that we throw away a good portion of what we buy. And we aren't even close to using all of our potential farmland.

Can I get any further off topic?!

And I do think it's an important point do get technical about it. About the distribution of goods, about poverty and how that effects the amount of children any family has.
But if that's too technical for you, maybe you should take a break ;)

You ever wondered why people congregate in noisy, polluted, smog-covered cities like L.A, Bangkok or Mexico City?
Yes, if you look at the world the way it is right now, with the way things are distributed then it is overpopulated. But you didn't even answer my real question. No matter our different definitions of overpopulation I was actually.

Seeing that you are in or from another country and English might not be your native language I will try to be nice about this. I don't understand what you are saying. Can you use a different sentence structure?

Fine! Whatever! Pave over ever bit of dirt, have no 'wild areas'. Who needs colorfull flowers, we can sit in our 10'x10' rooms and look out into the gray brick walls of the building next door. Great!
Soylent Green and Water World. Wonderful.
I give up.

Absurd hyperbole. If that's the tact you're going to take, I don't really want to continue discussing it either.

It's not absurd. Like evolution it's a slow process but I see it(am seeing it over the years). At least in my area and in Thailand the only other place in the world I'm familiar with. Turn your back but that's not going to stop it. And thank you for not discussing it further.

Snake> Since this is the first time I've ever heard anyone saying, they don't understand my use of the English language, I'll assume that you understood it just fine, but couldn't come up with a better reply.

Your tendency to go to the absolute extremities in a discussion doesn't come across as very enlightened. TokyoDreamer is not saying that we should pave up every square-centimetre of the planet for habitats for humans. Just that there actually is enough room. And why do you think buildings have to be grey concrete?
I've visited the states and there are vast areas where no one lives at all. And parking-lots the sizes of smaller cities. Not the best use of space, but hey. You don't sound as if you're willing to debate the subject.
What does that remind me of?

Did you write that? If so it doesn't sound like a sentence to me. I don't understand it!

Apparently you don't understand the use of exaggeration and humor to make a point. But I at least will be understanding about it and give you the benefit of doubt since anyone who's ever exchanged emails or posts knows that sometimes there are misunderstanding.
However if you don't have a sense of humor, don't talk to me again. I hate serious people.

So instead of answering the questions you decide, that people who don't have YOUR sense of humour can't make a point?
Interesting.
Yep, I did post in mid-sentence, but if you read what I wrote I was actually asking a question in relations to the abortion-topic.

If you are going to ask a question, then ask it and stop being so cryptic. (Using the quotes would be a big help.)

Everyone said it couldn't be done. So no one tried. Execpt one old man who lived in a cave on the other side of the world. He hadn't heard it couldn't be done. So he tried. He couldn't do it either.

Snake> It was in the same post where I said, the Earth is not overpopulated. But will get there, and if anyone had any idea how anti-abortionists deal with that issue? :)

Oh Geesss! I was so naive. Now I see.
Since you said you are a female(in other folder) I understand that response(above) now. Typical of what a women would say, I was trying to be nice because I thought English wasn't your native language but it's because you are a women you act like that. I'm sorry.

Snake, I have to tell you that I consider the above response wholly inappropriate.

I agree with Snake to the point that over population has many more consequences than just land to grow food and a place to live. Higher populations damage the whole earth, not just the local populations of people. See my post in 'Over population'

Now, Snake, where in the hell did you catch that awful case of misogyny? There is a point when vindictiveness is not cute.
